I'm not sure they do mate. They struggle in Europe when he doesn't play. And as I said before, I think Endo will really impact their balance as well. They don't have anyone else who can play the DM role and protect their defence and with their gung-ho hyper energy tactics they need someone sat in. We'll see. Their form isn't spectacular, we're 2pts behind if we win our game in hand. A long way to go yet.
Agreed on Salah, everything still goes through him, even though he perhaps hasn't been at his normal levels so far this season. He's the talisman, and creates a lot from that left hand side, something that they can't replace.

They have goals in Gakpo and Jota but ultimately losing Salah takes away a lot of the creativity.

Salah is one of the few players in the top flight who's mere presence alone on the field is worth points.

Akin to Kompany, Terry, Vieira, Keane, Adams and Stam.

He will miss Bournemouth away (21st Jan), but depending how far Egypt go, he could also miss Chelsea at home (31st Jan) and Arsenal away (4th Feb).

As others have said, it will be interesting to see how they cope without him. Would be even more interesting to see how a prolonged spell out of the side would impact their Premier League campaign.

There's one thing about jurgens bin dippers is that they will take it down to the wire with us like they have proved before, they won't bottle games like arsenal.

Well if its 90+ points we're going to have to win 16/19 with another couple of draws, allowing for 1 loss.

That's a tall order and the scousers need one less win to achieve that as well.

I suspect its less than 90 this year.

Still think the dippers are the favorites as they are just playing better than us currently, hopefully KDB and Erling hit the ground running though and we start hitting the goal trail again.

They arw not playing better. They are however getting the margins go their way. Luck can only change one way.

Pep has lost 3 league campaigns so far, one with Barca and two with us. None of them was a close affair. In any of them, Pep's team were trailing the top team by at least 7-8 pts in February. E.g., Barca were 10 pts off Real in 11/12.

As long as we stay close to the top, we have a great chance to win.

We try to save energy as much as possible, sometimes more subconsciously than deliberately, and it has cost us in some games. But we know we'll go for everything again, that's why we'll need energy when it really matters. Liverpool have the advantage to concentrate on the league. If they have a good chance to win the title come March/April, Klopp will rotate in Europa heavily. In contrast, we'll try to reach the CL final again. That's why we are supposed to be more conservative in our approach in the first half of the season. Guess/ hope we'll play with more energy, especially from March onwards.
We don't have any pressure to win the CL again. In terms of priority, it is secondary to the PL for now.

Yeah I don’t think we can get to 90 points. We got to 89 last year with 5 losses and 5 draws. We are already around that draw total this year. I’m hoping we get 85 or so points and that is enough to take it.

I'm sure we all wish Egypt the best of luck or the way through to the semis before crashing out only to lose the 3rd place playoff with salah himself missing the vital penalty. On a side note Afcon are possibly the only confederation that could make uefa look semi competent & unbiased so who knows what will happen.

Liverpool are definite favourites? Even Liverpool fans don't believe it.

Liverpool's main strength is energy. I think they run more than the other teams. Their play is less structured than Arsenal's, let alone ours, but they make up for it by their energy levels. Whether and for how long this can be sustained this season only time can show. They are expected to go very far in Europa, and won't have enough time to recover in January due to the semis in the league cup.

Their energy levels make them favourites at Anfield vs any team not called City, but they are not as good away from home and will drop plenty of points, imo. 84 pts win the league, maybe even 82!
“Liverpool’s main strength is energy.” That is so true and is why the Klopp method is unsustainable. It is why their “quad” campaign broke them and why their performance levels dropped so much afterwards. They have now completely replaced their midfield with youth and energy, if it doesn’t work then what?
