How many points will be needed to win the league?

Under no illusions here that either Arsenal or Liverpool could pip us. I just don't know which would be worse.

My concern is not they are too good, I just think they are putting in a very good session so far.

My concern in our squad is still the ability to get Walker playing well. That our wingers aren't fully established yet and as a result we'll end up with Foden filling in and Kova or Nunes coming in for KDBs niggles.

It's probably coming down to us having to beat United Liverpool and Arsenal. Capable of it but see it as unlikely.
Scousers would be worse.

I see the dippers Europa League game in Prague on the Thursday before we play them has conveniently been given one of the 5:45pm kickoff slots by UEFA to give them as much preparation time for Sunday as possible.

Surely we're due a result at the cultists?
Can you imagine that, a result there and a pen at the swamp in the same season?
The end of days!!!

i can stomach not retaining the league if we win the Champs league at Wembley , it will be a more prestigious achievement than the Dippers or Goons winnng the title , used to despise the Champs league but now we have to embrace it. Winning Big Ears virtually guarantees two more trophies Supercup & World Club Cup.
Always thought European trophies were bullshit but they are more glamorous and are more significant world wide , the Dippers winning a domestic title will not revurberate around world football , but if we retain the Champs league at our home our national stadium Wembley then it is world wide news and we attract a load more glory hunting fans to fill the coffers.

I agree with all that about the CL and what it means.
But while we have a great chance of winning the new 16 team Club World Cup next year, I wouldn’t say it’s guaranteed.

Title race starts this weekend. First proper weekend the games have levelled out.

Hopefully not being in 1st makes our lads realise how much they want to be there.

We've not been playing great but we have been getting results. Hopefully saving ourselves for the run in.

The first time since Pep since came in I feel we have more chance winning the CL than the PL.
I just get the feeling Pep and the club want it more than any other trophy this season.

Winning back to back CL's would be an incredible achievement and would continue to further our legacy worldwide.

No matter who wins the league this year everyone knows who the top boys are.Everyone.

Agreed

I do see your reasoning, however, this year seems like the perfect storm of City being deposed as champs.
With our form (especially against the top teams) being poor, our defense being porous, arsenal and scouse being better, compelling victory narratives for both arsenal and scouse writing themselves, refs being super strict with City and more relaxed with the other two teams challenging us, City claiming a 4th title is bad for the EPL product, and the 115 hanging over us (tge biggest isue of the lot).
Some of these we can effect, but some are out of our hands.
I'm usually upbeat, but this year I can't shake off the feeling. I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for he worst.

We were in a much worse position last year, without a recognised left back and playing really poorly.

No guarantee we will do it this year but something usually triggers with the players around this time, possibly higher levels of concentration.

I am still fairly confident, these players deserve our faith as they have proven worthy of it, time and time again.

Four PLs on the bounce makes history and may never be achieved again.....its the unique stick to beat the cartel clubs with.....FOR EVER.

The greatest team in English football history....let them all choke on that !!

Champions league is a nice lottery, but cant be won by NeverCenturiansandTreblewinnersPool and wont be won by ArseBurton ( both can win the PL),and we can win the CL again next year.

PL first and foremost for me every year .

I’ve been listening to a few footy analytical podcasts looking at City’s season so far. They all had 2 things in common:

1. We aren’t playing as well as previous seasons and there is nothing to suggest we are about to go on a long winning run just because we have before.

2. All City’s problems come from when we don’t have the ball. We don’t get it back as quick as we used to. The main reason is that the stability and off the ball work provided previously by Grealish is missing this season followed by no adequate Gundo replacement.

Whether you like how he plays or not Grealish gives balance to the whole team and, when he is absent or below par, we miss him just as much as Rodri.

I hope he makes the difference in the run in.

Pep said in his press conference recently that Grealish helps set the tempo of our offense, so he seems to agree with those guys.
