We squeaked by Newcastle away last season and Brentford at home was tight, too, so not that much change. Failing to beat Arsenal with 10 men hurt, but I think we took a huge psychological fillip from our performance and their negativity. I agree with your assessment of the personnel, but the weeks up to the window are going to be tough. I thought we would have won at a canter last year if we’d shown more composure in the final third, but with no Gundogan and Grealish/de Bruyne out or below par, the young players often snatched at things. If we can settle the midfield and have those three composing the youngsters in the final third, then we should be okay.Alternatively, we were poor vs Brentford before Rodri came in, and average vs Arsenal and Newcastle without him.
What gives me hope are 3 things: we have wonderful young players who might surprise the league, Arsenal and Liverpool might find it difficult to win more than 85 pts, and we may sign a good midfielder in January.
Absolutely not happening 100%, even without other games where they will both drop points, they have to play each other so it's impossible they both get maximum points.Fair comment
I can’t see Arsenal dropping any more points. Or Liverpool.
Well Chelsea do have 4 of our academy products in their squad.Reading a lot of the posts on this forum, is it time we all go back to supporting Chelsea?
Also who we buy in January.I’ll be amazed if we’re not in the running right to the end. Injuries will play a big part in who wins the league.
Same thing happens every year, don’t win for a couple of games, then we get the usual “not good enough to win it this year”. What’s tends to happen is we go into overdrive mode early in the new year and power past all the also rans. Rinse and repeatAll I say is after the Villa game last December I was certain we wouldn't win the league. We looked awful in that game. I was totally wrong. Kevin came back we got our act together, and managed to win 10 straight to win the league. The point being it’s September relax a little. We shall see how this goes.
