They created this shitstorm. We're playing by their rulebook.
I was probably as miffed as anyone when Roman came along and did what he did - to start with. But when you apply a bit of rational thought there is not really anything to be upset about. Although I do have a little sympathy with the point of view that clubs should only spend what they generate themselves, there isn't a club on the planet that hasn't had some investment at some point. No other industry (to the best of my knowledge) prevents "outside" investment, so why should football.
To be honest, I just think the whole discussion about it - specifically the impact that the investment at Chelsea and Man City has had - has got incredibly tiresome. Arguement for both sides has been made time and time again and there is nothing new to add. It has just become another stick to beat fans of rival clubs with IMO. Chelsea and City fans (I'm generalising here) seem to just assume that all fans of all other clubs are just bitter (there are certainly some, but it's not fair to tarnish everyone like that) while a cross section of more vocal fans of other clubs accuse Chelsea and City of having "cheated", which is a ridiculous over-reaction and just perpetuates the, in my opinion, incorrect view that all fans of clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham are Liverpool and incredibly bitter. It really annoys me when that word is used because in my experience the vast majority of fans are genuinely far from bitter about it.
