It's called banter manc in london, I'd take what fans sing with a pinch of salt. We've sang ridiculous songs to United too who dominated for the past 20 years too. It was only twenty years ago your fans tried to stop and FA cup game against spurs by invading the pitch. I'd rather be in this day and age now

I'm dissapointed, you're slacking THFC.

(Or does Castiel have him stumped)

I'm hoping Thfc posts a preview of the game that's always a good read, he was collecting data on previous scorers against spurs I think.

We get to read about how Michael Brown won 30 medals between the two clubs!!

I posted my Spurs v City Match Preview on here some time ago...

Fans of the likes of Villa, West Ham and West Brom engage in good quality banter. They can laugh at themselves, have fun when they are losing and will look to take the mick out of opposition fans, all with the intention of having a good time. Spurs fans, as a collective during games, are not good natured or humourous and generally do not engage in banter with fans of the opposition. I am struggling to remember any time when we have ever had a laugh with Spurs fans during a game.

A good example is from early 2008 when we beat you 2-1 at CoM. We mocked Spurs fans for celebrating a goal, when in fact the ball hit the outside of the side netting. Every minute or so after that, we would 'cheer' as if we scored a goal. In response, you lot responded with cut-throat gestures, V-signs, the stares, a handful trying to get through to our block through the ShowSec stewards and occasional throwing of coins. The only other fans in the Prem who would react like that are Rags.

I have just remembered one occasion when you did engage in banter once. Last season, in the game at The Etihad, we sang "We score when we want" (awful chant). Spurs drew level to make the score 2-2. Spurs responded with "we'll score when we want". That is genuinely, the only example of banter I can remember from Spurs fans.

When we went through many years of not winning anything we would sing the likes of "Blue Moon" and "MCFC OK", and indulge in other occasional chants that displayed our gallows humour (that's not to say we did not act like idiots on occasions). In your trophyless years, you have simply increased the frequency in which you refer to the lack of trophies won by the opposition. Therein lies the major difference between Blues and Spurs fans.

This lack of humour and banter is also evident among matchgoing Arsenal fans. It makes me think Spurs and Arsenal fans are cut from the same cloth.

I think you love mentioning the trophy cabinet every post. We've had plenty of banter down the years, even with Liam gallagher a few years ago, does he still wear that green coat?

It weren't long ago your fans were singing anti semetic chants, invading the pitch and having people dressing up in scooby doo outfits singing pro Hitler songs. I won't stereotype like you saying all your fans are like that.

You can paint it all one way if you like and rewrite history but I do not agree. You've had a pop at our fans constantly, our medal tally, digs at our players and condescending atttitude towards the 3 or 4 spurs fans that post on here

You pick isolated examples of the behaviour of a small number of fans (with the exception of the FAC pitch invasion). However, a large number of Spurs fans are nobs on a regular basis. I know as I have been to many Spurs games, including games across Europe.

You will find that fans of several clubs who have remarked down the years that we are a great set of fans who have a sense of humour and banter. Supporters from clubs like West Ham, Newcastle and Villa regularly talk about how we are a great set of fans. Check Villa Talk and NUFC forum and you will see that Spurs fans are among the least popular fans. You are also disliked by ALL London clubs - Chelsea (although they tend to pity you), Arsenal (obviously), West Ham, Palace, Charlton and Wimbledon. Even QPR fans, on at least one occasion, joined Chelsea fans to fight with your lot.

As for Liam Gallagher and the Spurs fans, your banter consisted of calling him "wankarrr" and laughing at him when we lost 2-1. Great banter.

We won't agree as you cannot convince me otherwise, and I obviously won't convince you as I doubt you have even been to watch Spurs judging by your blind ignorance. :)

For somebody who dislikes Spurs so much you don't mind going to more games than City a season. Do you hate your wife that much for being a Spurs fan? You too have just mentioned isolated incidents, and seem quite smug knowing Spurs fans get beat up, you would probably laugh if she got a slap too.

I can see you're continuing with your arrogant condescending attitude, so I'll leave you be. You're as miserable as you claim these fans to be

Even though I don't expect you to respond, as you rarely do when you are called out on your nonsense, please explain this comment in more detail. You are either hanging around with the wrong set of fans or simply making things up.

You are so wrong on this it is laughable, but I would love to know exactly how you come to this conclusion.

The irony of this comment is incredible. Our "banter" towards Liam was hardly hugely creative, but it was far more than calling him {sic} wankarrr. I spoke to him after a recent match between our clubs and he said, and I quote pretty much verbatim, that the Spurs fan were a great bunch, made him laugh that night and were always good for a craic. Of course, I'm sure you know far better than him or any other fan as you attend so many Spurs games.

You seem sound but I also despise your club with a passion. My main gripe is with the majority of your fans. Identical to Arsenal in views about City, but also horrible khantz down the years.

Your fans also seem to think your above us, Chelsea, Newcastle, Villa, Everton etc as a club, your not. Very soon you won't be able to touch us and Chelsea either.

I'd rather city dominated england than chelsea or arsenal. You've had your neighbour's rub it in your noses long enough. Hopefully it will be us one day. Enjoy the match! It's always a good watch

You have had a good season i think in building some ethos for a longer future if you stick with AVB (which you should).

As some say i dislike some of your lot for the attitude displayed but i will take each person on merrit but the lads on here seem sound to me.

No real views on you lot this season but those moaning twats at arsenal i just would love to see them out of the cl and watch the fallout.
Lose to us (i'd accept a draw) and pip them to 4th as it looks like chelsea 3rd and i'd laugh a good laugh.

I'd take a draw right now if offered to me! What's the situation on Aguero and silva? My old man told me they might be out. I'd like to see lennon, Defoe and bale on the bench instead of being rushed back. I'd rather them all 100% fit for all the remaining games, than risked being injured for a game against City which is going to be difficult enough.

I think if you played united 3 or 4 games earlier it may have messed them up more. They look a bit rattled but I think it's too late now

Just want to say in advance I hope I don't come across as hostile or quarrelsome, I actually like having these sorts of conversations and I usually like you as a poster. Also I've mentioned before that I would obviously have Mata and Hazard in our team but what I'm arguing against is your claim that your attacking midfield is significantly better than our's.

But anyway, the 3 players you mentioned have scored 19 goals this season in the league. Bale has scored 17 on his own. Oscar has only scored 1 goal and assisted 4 in 19 starts and 10 sub appearances, while for instance Sigurdsson has 2 goals and 4 assists in 11 starts and 17 sub appearances. I definitely hate Oscar highly though but I think he's still getting acclimated to this league, it's not easy especially for a player his age.

If we look at combined stats:

Bale, Lennon, Sigurdsson: 23 goals, 13 assists in 67 combined starts
Hazard, Mata, Oscar: 20 goals, 24 assists in 71 combined starts

Our's lead slightly in goals, your's lead significantly in assists. But since we're also talking about the squad depth, I think it's fair to say that your 'depth' players in these positions - Moses and Marin - have only scored 1 goal each and made no assists. Dempsey who is effectively our squad player has scored 5 and assisted 3.

So Bale, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Dempsey - 28 goals, 16 assists. 44 combined.
Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Moses - 21 goals, 24 assists. 45 combined.

So I don't see where this huge difference is?

Also a point I forgot to make about your goal difference is that you have scored 7 penalties in the league, while we have been given none, and had 3 scored against us, while you had 1 scored against you. I'm not trying to say that you didn't deserve the penalties or that we deserved more than we were given, but it's still a significant statistic that 9 of your goal difference buffer has come from penalties.

We've scored 1 more goal than you in open play, while you have scored 3 more from set pieces and 7 more from penalties so that's where the difference comes from. I'm not saying that's bad or anything but it doesn't really make the point about team quality in the way that you would like it to IMO.

You're looking at just the league. Take Mata and Bale. Mata has played 55 games this season and remained fit throughout, to Bale's 38 - and Bale beats him by +2 on combined goals assists (if we measure productivity). Bale also comes in and out of form in purple patches, Mata has been consistently excellent across all 55 of those games. If the team is playing well, he plays well - if the team is playing shit, he plays well. In total he's at 18 goals and 32 assists, his assists tally beats every other player in Europe by a margin; even the likes of Ozil and Iniesta. Bale may be more spectacular, but he's not better. Better would be Messi/Ronaldo level and neither of them are there.

The stats you point out shows our superiority despite the fact that we've had to compete in many more games than you outside of the league and two of our three are in their first season here. Look at their total productivity for their teams again (Goals + Assists).

Chelsea: 44
Spurs: 36

Ours has so far produced 8 more goals than yours, again with 2/3 of them in their first season in England and having played 50+ games. Spurs' lineup is much more experienced with this league and has played together for a while, even Mata is only in his second season and none of those three have played together before. I suspect the gulf there will become wider next season when we're playing on similar schedules in terms of number of games and we've got the benefit of cohesion. If you asked anybody to combine Chelsea and Spurs squads, almost all of them would have the same three for attacking midfield:

Hazard - Mata - Bale

Because none of the rest come close. They're good players, but those three are a cut above. We just have much more quality there. Our three each carry their weight and each pose enormous threats (especially early season before fatigue set in), while Spurs is enormously reliant on Bale which we've seen every time he's injured.

As far as I know we will know more about their situation today. I read that this game might be too soon for Silva sadly, not really sure about Aguero. We will be in for a really tough game if both of them miss out.

Looking forward to this one, should be a good game.. Anyone any ideas on decent city friendly pubs?? Been told that not really any near the ground.. Is this the case?? Will be wearing my colours as ever so I know that will narrow the field down a lot...

May as well get this out of the way before you come gloating, a deserved win, well played.

Still a bunch of cunts though. ;-)
