If I sell my car and then go and spend 80 grand on cheese, does that mean I haven't spent any money?
If I sell my house and buy 5 much shittier houses, does that mean I now own 5 free houses?

What kind of pants-on-head fuckwittery is this?

There could be a surprise or two, now that the Bale cash has materialised.

As things stand, Spurs have actually made a profit of £6,036,000 during the Summer 2013 transfer window, so when you figure-in the £50m budget AVB as supposed to have been given and the extra TV revenues, there's still plenty of liquid cash if the right players become available.

But their wage bill will have rocketed. One player replaced by 6/7 all on 30 to 50k a week !! at least

Why?

Spurs have taken-off 23 players from their wage bill during the summer and only added seven.

Quite a few of those 23 would have been on quite high wages (Bale, Parker, Gallas, Bentley, Dempsey and Huddlestone for example).

Forget your 23 that happened regardless of selling bale.

Pior to selling bale you wage bill was x pounds plus bales wages
After selling bale your wage bill was x pounds plus 6/7 new wages.

However the point I was making is your 6 million profit or whatever transfers to date will be more that swallowed up with the subsquent wages.

I totally disagree.

But we'll just have to wait until the annual accounts are published to see who's right.

Having offloaded Parker, Gallas, Dempsey etc the wages will have been available for the new players coming in who probably wont be on much more than those that have left. The sale of Bale does probably leave some cash available. However, spuds have known Bale was going to leave for quite some time now, that is why they have bought the players they have so recently - Lamela, Eriksen etc. I would be surprised if they spent anymore cash but we will see.

Hilarious! The Spuds sell Bale, allowing Arsenal to strengthen their squad with Ozil.

I don't think it's as simple as you say it is. I think psg are also interested

-- Mon Sep 02, 2013 1:20 pm --

Quite surprised to see Gallas is a free agent
He always gave 110% for spurs and was a great communicator. He lost it a bit in the end but I'm sure he can still play for many teams in the premiership

Arsenal signing Ozil absolutly wipes the floor with any of the Spurs signings they have made, plus Arsenal haven't let there best player go. All of a sudden the tide has turned and they looks a far far stronger team to get that 4th spot.

Spurs could have afforded him but Ozil would never have come to spurs. I'm sure levy tried for di maria and contreao also. Without champions league football and wage cap players won't drop down as Castiel said previously.

I'm surprised no one else bid for Ozil, great player
