Well now that Bale is gone I think all Spurs fans should appreciate his fantastic work for the club and count themselves lucky that they were around to see the emergence of a truly great player.

Obviously, it's a shame that he decided against spending another season at Spurs, but I wish him every possible success in the future.

I'm sure he is touched.

However, to be truly great, as you put it, he'll have to do it for a damn sight longer than he already has.

Quality player, agreed, I can't help have the feeling he will be massively overshadowed by 'the ego' at Real Madrid though.

The speed at which Bale went from....

He's useless - Spurs have never won a game with him

to

He's only ever had one decent game

to

He's only ever had half a decent season

to

....becoming the world's most expensive footballer has been remarkable.

Amazing how ridiculous the sums madrid will pay for a player when they have a hard-on for him....

The recent £53m signing Kaka went to Milan again today..... on a free.

Most expensive nowhere near means best.

Makes me laugh people saying today he is the third best player in the world, not a fkn chance.

THFC6061, prior to the weekend I presume you were happy about your club's transfers window and chances of finishing above arsenal. Has the Ozil transfer changed anything for you?

No doubt about it, Ozil was a great buy for Arsenal.

But I still feel that they haven't addressed all the problems in their squad and putting all their eggs in one basket might prove to be a very foolish decision.

By contrast, Tottenham have strengthened the entire squad with the seven players brought-in.

So, hand on heart, who do you think will finish higher? You or Arsenal?

I'd be very upset if Tottenham didn't finish higher than Arsenal.

Then again, I'm always upset when we don't!

He always wanted to go abroad, said it at Southampton and Spurs. I hope he does well there. I can't believe he's on 300k a week, that's insane wages!! Could he possibly break the world record fee twice?!

He's now earning £40 a minute...

Different world for him now, Spurs are missing him...Bale would have come up with a wonder strike against the Arse. Townsend was trying to replicate it but he's no where near that level of quality.

Big challenge for Spurs now is how their new players integrate, Eriksen was a good buy. Soldado was ploughing a lonely furrow against Arsenal, I've been served better in Costa than he was yesterday. Eriksen *should* give you that although there's question marks over his workrate from what I can gather.

Agree mate! I remember I was earning 70 pence an hour, I bloody wish I were a footballer! No doubt we are missing him but we all know he'd go eventually, I thought we would get one more season out of him.

I've always loved Townsend, I probably sound like a broken record with him in the past but I've always wanted him to get into the first team even when he was playing at youth level. Him, Mason and Caulker were always stand out players. He still has a lot to learn but I'm hoping he improves. I'm hoping he doesn't do a SWP, Lennon, Downing etc where he doesn't take it to another level. The talent is definitely there.

Agree about Soldado, he didn't get any service at all, he had two shots that were well blocked, I'm sure both would have gone in otherwise. Hopefully we see more of Lamela and Eriksen soon enough. We still have other creative players in Townsend, Lennon, Chadli, Sigurdson, Holtby as well, so I'm not too concerned just yet.

How do you feel about your signings? Great start you've had so far and Suarez to come back still

I think it's a toss up and depends on how well our signings fit in, and how quickly they adjust to the league. I think we have a stronger squad, they probably have a stronger first 11. But I think United could drop out of the top 4 whether we finish above Arsenal or not. Honestly, I think Liverpool have better players than United.
