Re: The Tottenham Thread 13/14 part 2.

Imo it's a sloppy comparison between Fernandinho and Paulinho, just because they are both brazilian midfielders and their names end in -inho. Imo, Capoue is our most similar player to Fernandinho.

I really wouldn't want to pass comment on City's transfer dealings this summer, but I can tell you that just about every Spurs fan is over the moon about our transfer window.

And word is that we're not finished yet - there could well be another surprise or two before the deadline.

You still getting that lad who was banging Cheryl Cole?

Re: The Tottenham Thread 13/14 part 2.

Spurs has the most talented team in the Premier League.

.......................................................Lloris/Friedel/Gomez....................................................
Walker/Naughton.........Dawson/Kaboul.......Vertoghen/Chiriches.........Ekotto/Rose
.....................................Paulihno/Townsend....Sandro/Capoue.......................................
Lamela/Lenon......................Dembele/Eriksen/Holtby..................Chadli/Sigurdson...............
............................................Soldado/Defoe/Adebayor

When it comes to talent that fits properly, no one else is as good. Chelsea and City have talent too. But it is lobsided. City has great forwards, and Chelsea has a great Attacking Midfield (I am speaking strictly in terms of talent and depth of talent.) Totenham is deep at every position except for Striker. WHich fortunately for them is the only position you don't need to bee deep in if you only play one. They have 1 very good striker and to average streaky strikers,

They are stacked at AM with Dembele, Ericksen and Holtby.
They are stacked at CM with Paulihno, Sandro, Capoue, Dembele
They are very good at CD With Dawson, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Chiriches
They have 4 okay at fulback (4 good and interchangeable players)
And competition and Experience is ripe at Goalie (LLoris, Frieldel, Gomez)

The beauty of this team is this. The talents in all positions are so close, that rotation is a definite. Outside of Soldado, Vertonghen (and eventually Lamela i belief) competition everywhere else will be close. I think Spurs have just guaranteed themselves a top 4, and a gnuine shot at the title.

Well that's a very long list.

Can you be more specific?

We haven't spent £97m so I don't know where you got that from.

Yes, I have City's total on incoming players this summer at £86,900,000, less the £15,000,000 received for players sold-on.

Which gives a net spend of £71,900,000...

...I've added the Tottenham figures for comparison.

So even without Gareth Bale, the £3m received from our cut of Giovani Dos Santos' move and the £10m+ surplus we had from last summer's player trading, there's only a difference in net spend this summer of around £7.8m between the two clubs.

Having a stacked midfield doesn't instantly make you a better side, buying a shed load of players and trying to integrate them is a whole new ball game, see Chelsea last season, who are still trying to solve that Oscar, Hazard, Mata conundrum .
, you may have improved your squad, but is it a better team? and how is AVB going to mould all those new acquisitions, (many bought late into the transfer window) into the team?
As for attacking midfield, you will have to go some to beat City's Yaya Fernandinho Nasri Silva Jovetic Navas Milner, with Nasri seemingly bothered again, Milner dependable as ever, Fernandinho forming a partnership with Yaya, Navas we all know about, is there anyone faster down the wing? And Silva pulling the strings,
Yes you are now contenders, but don't start crowing after 2 games,,it's a long season! And good luck

Re: The Tottenham Thread 13/14 part 2.

So reading between the lines then, with all this talk of tottingham having a better squad than us and doing better deals in the transfer market, the only conclusion i can come to is that spurs are title favourites.
They can't spend all this money and sign all these quality players and then come out and say they'll be happy with top four and play everything down, and fuck the settling in and new players bedding in bollocks too,i want to hear you spuds fans on here talking about going for the title, the double even...
Pressure is on you guys now, when you get beat prepare for the shit flying your way, collect your tin hats on entrance.

Re: The Tottenham Thread 13/14 part 2.

question to the spuds fans

are you happier now bale has gone

or would you have wanted to have kept bale and just added 2 or 3 instead of a virtual new team

as to quote wenger if you add more than 3 or 4 new players you are stepping into the unknown

adding 7 foreign players( all different nationaities) is a risk don't you think despite the talent they may have

That's fair but I wasn't trying to slag spurs off there. It was more a case of pointing out we haven't spent that much, not trying to make it look like you've spent a lot more than us or anything like that
