Paulinho has done very well so far and eriksen looks a great buy. Capoue has just returned from injury so hopefully we see more of him. I don't really want to see him and sandro starting, it would be good to rotate them both.

I'm sure once Soldado starts scoring he will be okay. Adebayor has just started training with the first team, not sure if that even matters though lol

Siggy always divides supporters, he doesn't strike me as a midfielder at all, to me he should be a striker, maybe not our striker though, but he's handy for a goal. While he's scoring it keeps all the midfield on their toes.

I was a bit disappointed that we didn't take more points against arsenal and Chelsea but I'm not too fussed yet.

I feel as optimistic as I did when we had the likes of bale, vdv and modric playing for us. Knowing our luck we'll feck it up somehow!! lol

I am sorry, "Once Soldado starts scoring" ? What is stopping him? Will he suddenly wake up one day and start scoring? Creating goal scoring opportunities has been your weakness, last season and 6 goals in 6 pl games will say nothing has changed.
You have come unstuck every time you have faced decent opposition.

I have seen Soldado play before and to me, he is definitely at Giroud's level and it took Giroud some time to find his feet in the PL.

Every time I have seen Soldado play, he is like an island. He needs supply and he is not getting it, imo. Their wingers and full-backs are just not good enough from an attacking perspective. Maybe Lamela is, but he is not getting much time to play. Soldado is forced to go deeper and that reduces his effectiveness. It is sort of like Dzeko/Negredo without supply.

Soldado is a better finisher than Giroud but they are totally different players. In our two biggest games this season - Spurs and Napoli home, Giroud has bullied the centre-backs, winning his battles, headers, laying it off, creating and scoring.

Soldado is not a lone striker in that mould, holding the ball up. He's more like a Defoe type I'd say, pure box player. He'll come good eventually as AVB will always play him....he has to after spending 26m on him.

That's just his agent doing all the talking really. I think Abramovich wanted to get one over on Levy due to the Arnesen and Modric saga with Willian, he will find Levy tough to deal with again if he wants Vlad. It's hard to say how good he will be.

I am wondering if Jose will even be at Chelsea in 2-3 years time!
Obviously it's his agent looking for a payday but it's still funny. It'd be another story if it was the player himself quoted.

Spuds only have 2 fewer managers than us in the last 10 years last I checked. Yet we have 10 more trophies in that period, more than even United. Maybe we're the ones doing it right. Sack more managers.

Your ignoring the fact that Chelsea have spent tons of money.

It's hardly a fair comparison.

Bloody hell mate, you only had to say it once ;)

We have many new players who are starting to gel. We still have had more shots than any other team in the premiership so I'm not too worried about that.

I think with Eriksen playing behind Soldado will help a lot. AVB is easing in Lamela too, reminds me of the Hugo situation.

As someone said Soldado is in a whole new role and it takes time adjusting. He still has four goals for us already which isn't a bad return and been involved in several goals. I think it's hard to judge someone based on a few games

-- Thu Oct 03, 2013 1:35 am --

Sacking managers hasn't worked for us though! Everytime they sack a boss it sets us back years. Every time a new gaffer came in he wanted to change a team and players that were actually good. I'd like to see AVB given at least 5 years at the job

I'm not too worried about Soldado, his movement is top class but his finishing has been a little off. I think he's still finding his feet and he's not the type of striker who drops deep when he's not getting service, he's always staying in dangerous areas for the opposition. The team has to adjust into a machine that creates chances for him without a forward holding the ball up, and he needs to adjust to being in a position where his team has more possession and other teams sit deeper in their own half. It will come, I have little doubt.

Big game tomorrow and we need a win to try and keep up with Woolwich.

Hugo

Kyle Walker
Jan Vertongen
Michael Dawson
Zeki Fryers/Danny Rose

Moussa Dembele
Paulinho

Andros Townsend
Christian Eriksen
Gylfi Sigurdsson

Roberto Soldado

Will be a tough game but we need to stay patient.

From what I've seen of him and what I've seen of Negredo, I know which one I prefer.

Negredo is more rounded and has a lot more to his game than Soldado.

If Defoe is in better form, why start Soldado?
