Once again, and finally i will ask you the question. How many English players did you buy in the Summer!

We didn't need to buy any more English players, as we had two first team players returning from loans at other Premier League clubs.

In addition to the ten English players Spurs have already used so far this season, we have another three who were in first team squads but were unused.

So that's 13 English players in total who have been included in our first team squads so far this season.

I think that compares very favourably with the other top Premier League clubs.

So i take it you did not buy any, Why because top end English players come at a premium. The ones you had were bought for pennies when you did not have the mega bucks you are spending now. Granted some have turned out half decent. 99% of your shoppiong will now be done in Europe

Pennies?

Jermain Defoe £15,000,000
Kyle Naughton £6,000,000*
Kyle Walker £4,000,000*
Michael Dawson £3,500,000
Zeki Fryers £3,000,000
Danny Rose £1,000,000
Aaron Lennon £800,000

*The Kyle Twins cost £10,000,000 combined

Without getting involved in the silly arguments that always arise, it is impressive how many English players Spurs have used. Cannot imagine that it will be that way in the future, most of the top clubs have to cave in to cheaper and better foreign players.

In terms of results, AVB has coped well with the loss of Bale who was the reason for so many results last season. New players have come in and still maintained results although they may be a touch fortunate. When things start to gel then I am sure you will get better. He has built a solid defence which is important.

Is that what 6 mil plus 4 mil comes up to. Thanks!
Take away Defoe who has been there awhile. Yes PENNIES.

Their combined transfer fee was £10m but their individual prices were never revealed.

The best estimates are that Naughton was slightly the more expensive of the two, as at the time of their transfer it was widely thought that he was the better prospect when compared with Walker.

He's right though, even combined that's just over what you paid for Lamela. You just sold a British player for £85m, I don't think you're in a position to deny the ridiculous premium on them. I wish I could find that Bale v Reus comparison.

Yeah, British players almost invariably cost a significant amount more than equally skilled foreign players. Joleon Lescott is a case in point, could you find a player in Europe who is as good a player as Lescott? Of course you could. Would that player cost you £23m? God no! Look at Adam Johnson, he was ok, but nothing more, at City, yet we got something like £12m from Sunderland for him. Jesus Navas cost us less than £15m. Who is the better player?!!

This is the point i was trying to make to him. 99% of Spuds shopping will now be done abroad.

Why is it only the Spurs thread where the main point of conversation is money? The FA should start awarding them a trophy every year for balancing the books. Their fans seem to celebrate it as much as Arsenal celebrate coming 4th.

I never made any mention of money when talking about Tottenham's English players before mancitymick brought the subject up.

Go check for yourself.
