The team he picked against Southampton was utterly embarrassing. He didn't include any defensive midfielders and lined up with a flat 4-4-2, not the kind of interchangeable, dynamic 4-4-2 played by the likes of Pellegrini's City and Ferguson's United. Adebayor remembered how to play football for ninety minutes so his tactical inability wasn't exposed but it will be over the course of the season.

Any 'manager' who has the phrases "gun-ho" and "up 'n' at 'em" in his little book of tactical wisdom needs to be discounted from any top job in any league in any country.
