Harry admits looking at Ba

Spurs boss also claims release clause in his deal

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has seemingly revealed an interest in Newcastle striker Demba Ba, after suggesting there is a release clause in his contract at St James' Park.

Ba has been in great form for Newcastle this term with 15 goals for the Magpies, following his free transfer move from West Ham United.

Now Redknapp has admitted that 'everyone' is now looking at the Senegalese striker who has flown out to partake in the African Cup of Nations.

"Demba Ba's done great, hasn't he, everybody's looking at him suddenly," said Redknapp.

"Anybody could have had him a year ago. Full credit to Alan Pardew, he took him.

"He's done a fantastic job. What a strike-rate he's got. He's probably the most in-form striker anywhere at the moment."

And in a move which is likely to anger his counter-part Alan Pardew, Redknapp suggested Ba has a release clause in his deal.

"They say there's a release clause in his contract, that's what we all hear," he said.

"He's certainly done well and it will be interesting to see what happens there, but at the moment he's doing great things for Newcastle."

every knowledgeable fan in the league states that Spurs play kick and rush football. Your tactics have always been to twat it to a winger, who you hope can give it to Crouch, or provide a knockdown to VDV. Now he has gone, it's twat down the wing and give it to Adebayor.

What's wrong with using wingers? What's wrong with playing at pace?

Is it because Barca don't play with wingers (at least, of the conventional variety) and because they build play very slowly and patiently? Sure - watching Barca play can be an almost religious experience at times. Beautiful. Awe inspiring. Uplifting. But, at other times, it can be intensely frustrating and, to be blunt, boring.

I know that City are playing great football at the moment - football that, in some ways, pays homage to Barca. But that doesn't mean that your style is the only way to play - either with regard to effectiveness or with regard to entertainment. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Is Harry getting fed up with wage structure ? just heard he was moaning about Cahill and how he can't afford him?

I'm sure he'd love to be able to sign some of the players that Spurs simply can't afford. But I can't think why he would suddenly be getting fed up about it. He's known perfectly well, all along, why Spurs can't pay players as much as the likes of City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal.

I suspect it's just the usual case of Harry being asked a question and not being able to resist giving the journos a sound bite so that they can write a sensational headline. He loves to get a ready made excuse in too.

Redknapp wants Ba now, hinted he has a release clause in his Newcastle contract - wonder how much?

Gallas and Sandro have both suffered calf tears, we'll see Spurs' depth tested soon perhaps although as long as Modric, Bale, and Adebayor are fit I think there is strong cover elsewhere.

will Sandro and Lennon miss the City match? Or has Lennon returned to fitness? They can't use Adebayor anyway, so that's good. I rate Sandro way ahead of Parker.

Im shocked at arry talking so openly about Ba. Guy moaned like an ex girlfriend when Chelsea bid for Modric.

Agree there Jim he does like his excuses but he has done an amazing job but just feel sometimes he acts almost like a little kid making digs cause his mum and dad wont let him have anymore sweets so he makes snide little remarks, and also says them so that Spurs think "well its not Harry's fault cause he can't break the wage structure so we can't blame him"

Lennon is in their squad tomorrow I think, but there's little chance Sandro will be fit to face us. Same applies to Gallas, although Dawson will be back.

Probably some truth in that.

I quite like Harry. I quite like the fact that he is amusing and generous in his praise for opponents (the infantile Arsene Wenger could learn a thing or two in that respect). Makes a refreshing change from the tedious platitudes churned out by so many other grey, characterless people in football.

But some of the things he says get on Spurs fans' nerves. So I can easily imagine how they must grate with opposition fans.

His Demba Ba comments are a classic example. Shut the fuck up, Harry.

At least Arry is a good football manager. Redknapp jr is stealing his money at sky sports. Shame Gary Neville didn't retire earlier.
