The TV Quiz Show Thread

Nice City mention on Tipping Point.
Question was who beat Liverpool on penalties 5-4 in the 2020 Community Shield?

Bloke said he was a Liverpool fan and the answer is Arsenal.
Presenter asked the other contestant what she would have said and she said " Man City"
Presenter replied "that would be a good guess as they tend to win everything at the moment!"

That’s it. Fuck sake I should have remembered that. The contestants would lie about what amounts of money they had and would go head to head at the end and if they both said split they would share it and if one stole they kept the lot . Summed up human nature perfectly

That sounds similar to the aptly named Shafted hosted by ex-politician Robert Kilroy-Silk about 20 years ago. The contestants had to gamble whether to share winnings with another contestant or try to fuck them up in an attempt to win all of the money. Predictably, human greed being what it is, contestants always tried to fuck each other up and invariably lost everything.

It managed 4 shows before being dropped and it was voted the worst TV show on the noughties. Kilroy-Silk did a bizarrely unnerving visual explanation of the contestants having to decide whether to share or shaft.
