The "which famous person died today" thread

His parents, once they were older, lived in a nice but modest house a block or so away from where I grew up. We used to trick-or-treat there as kids during Halloween and always hoped we see him visiting but never did. I love many of his films (especially The Sting) but All The President’s Men is a top five all-time favo(u)rite for me that I rewatch every year. RIP to one of film’s finest.

Seemed like a very decent person. A wonderful actor but also a very good director as well. He directed The Legend of Bagger Vance (amongst others) which is one of my favourite films.

I read that he died at his home in Sundance, Utah. I assume he named it after his character rather than it being a bizarre coincidence.

Correct.. (Utah is one of the most beautiful places on earth).
