That’s a shocker. RIP.Andy Kershaw, just 66. A familiar voice through our my formative years RIP
Best intro ever...
Only 66. Another one, who succumbed to cancer.Andy Kershaw, just 66. A familiar voice through our my formative years RIP
Fair to say he had a somewhat troubled life, especially over the last 20 years or so..No age 66, a voice from my youth, had his problems later on but came across as a decent guy.
Best intro ever...
I used to love the way he said The Bundu Boys !Shame about Andy Kershaw I enjoyed listening to his world music show. You could hear how passionate he was about the music he played. To this day if I ever hear any type if world music especially kenyan guitar bands, in my head I read the name of the band and the song with a Rochdale accent as to me thats how it should sound.
Even better ;-)
Another good one and doubling down by wearing a Marc Riley & The Creepers t-shirt

Desmond Morris obituary: natural world expert
Zoologist, broadcaster and author best known for The Naked Ape dies aged 98www.thetimes.com
Down to earth lad in real life. His mum Eileen lived four doors down from us at Tonnacliffe. Same age as me putting things somewhat into perspective. Live each day as if its your last.I knew Andy Kershaw around 1978-9, when he used to live in Whitworth and spent most of the time hanging around in Saddleworth with my mates, Then he moved to Leeds Uni, I can remember going to a couple of parties at his flat, he was always a good laugh. He has had his ups and downs, his book "No off switch" is a great read.
RIP.
