The worst thing about farcical officiating

As someone who worked in the Gambling industry for 30 years I can assure you there’s very little chance of any irregularities going on in England’s top flight (and most other leagues in the UK) football.
May as well ask as well.. What counts as an irregularity to you then? And why doesn't it apply to Luca Tony? Or Andros Townsend.. Or Cameron jerome...? Or Joey Barton? Or dimichelis? Or granite Xhaka? Or Trippier?

What exactly did you do in the gambling industry...? PR?

No you're cool I don't mind what you say, that's fine... I do have speculation yeah, have I said it's something else...?

I respect you're knowledge, but saying no-one in the PL has any incentive to cheat... not really credible.. Saying it doesn't happen is one thing.. but saying they have no incentive is wrong.

I'm not sure if you're saying I have no inside knowledge because you thought I was claiming to..? Or?

What is it you want evidence for? What was a claim I made?
It’s just the realities of finance and the Premier League and as previously mentioned there’s very little either way, (punters and Bookmakers). If a bookmaker had a certain piece of inside knowledge that would naturally lead them to offering false odds on an event, the shrewd pro punters would pick up on this and bet against it with another bookmaker who would in turn become aware of suspicious activity and alarm bells would ring. It’s not huge money that triggers these alerts. I know the Far East is shady regarding betting but could you imagine a Premier League player on big wages taking a bribe to even give away a throw or a corner to trouser a few quid with the knowledge it could cost him his career? It happened (allegedly) with John Higgins the snooker player who was caught on camera admitting his guilt in a betting scandal, the amount involved was about KDB’s wages for a couple of days, he’s under constant scrutiny and lucky to be still plying his trade.

From Pep; "We’re not going to win for the next 25 years everything but we’re going to fight and today we fought and played to win but sometimes football is like that and you don't win,” the boss reflected.
“Of course, we want to try and what I want is to behave in this way and sometimes it happens and sometimes not and I know what we have to do is be better and better and better in this league.
We lost the Carabao Cup, we lost it. But it’s not about losing in the Carabao Cup, it’s the way we lost. I was sad, really, really sad.
Today the way we tried to do it, we were close, we missed a little up front but in general I am satisfied.”

You mean within the betting industry itself, not the leagues writ-large?

Because I can assure you, with utmost confidence (on good authority, past and present), that there are absolutely ‘irregularities’ throughout European top flight football.

The offside rule changes have done nothing to improve the game. Instead they have made it more unfair to all concerned. Under current rules half a dozen players could be offside but providing they do not touch the ball a seventh player could come through and score. It beggars belief on the stupidity of the games' lawmakers. They need to explain what they are hoping to achieve.

No I couldn't imagine that.

Could you imagine a mediocre Premier League player on average wages agreeing to play badly in a specific match with the knowledge it would help their career?

We can play the 'could you imagine' game all day.. but it gets us nowhere..

I still wanna know what you had such a problem with and what you want evidence from me for?

Agree, exhibit A from this last week...

Off those you mentioned, it doesn’t mean they’re winning punters, just gamblers like in all walks of life. Emlyn Hughes came across as a nice guy but he used to bet with a friend of mine at his shop in Sheffield, he turned into a nasty fucker when betting, it’s what losing big money does to some people.

Anyway, 10 years William Hill, worked at the Regional office then 20 years for two broadcast companies (SIS/Alphameric). Plenty of liaison with the big betting companies and was involved in liability protection on the EPOS systems, any scandals, and there were a few, were investigated and dealt with so they didn’t happen again. Now it’s far more sophisticated and bribes at a high level for or against the Bookmakers would easily be flagged.
