Theo Walcott? ..

Re: Irrelevant Q, but anyway... Theo Walcott or Adam Johnson?

All of our play would break down if we signed Walcott. He is a dreadful footballer. Purely an athlete in football boots.

Johnson could do better than he has, but some of his play last season was some of City's best. It's there on the OS in the highlights package, but people like to pretend it never happened.

Walcott is exactly what is wrong with the modern english approach to young players. Too many occasions players catch the eye because they are fast or strong rather than high technical ability. In school one of my mates got signed for WBA youth team. He was probably the 3/4th best player in the school team but was the fastest and strongest(world karate youth champ) which is what caught the eye of scouts. Two years later he's nowhere.

Read recently that Gael Bigirimana at coventry was only signed on when a coach noticed his speed running up the street. Is that seriously the way we need to be recruiting players ???

Absolutely.

And the fact that players like him & Downng were chosen ahead of AJ for England & that our own fans can't see the difference even after watching Spain, Barca & City play football, is a bit depressing tbh.

walcott without a doubt! not because i rate him highly but his speed would give us something different that we DO need.

Which is what exactly?

Walcott has pace to burn but can't seem to do a thing right with a football. As someone else has said, he's simply an athlete in football boots.
