I don't think it has hit hard enough.
I only hope the dismissive way the Stoke defeat has been explained by the experts is true.
I rest assured that everything will look so much better after the next 3 games then.

there you go, Tolm, case in point.

I think you'll find it's only a certain type of poster over-reacting, though.

The certain type who's sat at the last 3 games and can see certain areas not working well at the moment. Apologies for having the temerity to show concern. Yes it may all come good but at the moment our form, tempo and passing is concerning.
Sorry and all that, I'll get with superiority complex despite the evidence in future!

Seems to have hit ONLINE blues harder than it should?

Edited for accuracy

To be honest most of my mates were pretty magnanimous in defeat and dwelled upon it about as long as it took to get to the pub after the game

Stoke are a better side than you give them credit for and did a job on us...it happens

I think sometimes fans lose sight of supporting city

That 'never win and home and never win away' song is sung for a reason

Of course it's nice to win games...'what do points make? Prizes'

But i'm not going to whinge like a woman should we lose the odd one either

We are nowhere near invincible and even the best lose (Real Madrid last weekend)

Whatever happened to our renowned good humour and humility?

Yes, this place is often not representative of the overall mood. Everyone I know shrugged their shoulders at "one of those games".

If it becomes a pattern we have a problem. I don;t anticipate that because we are too good, too well balanced and too well managed.

Obviously, nobody saw it coming, we are masters of the universe at home.

Can't help feeling it's the frustration of defeat which has since got plenty looking at everything in a negative light, following the sale of Negredo and United signing Falcao?

I'm still pissed about the performance and result on Saturday, especially with Chelsea winning at Everton, and games to come against direct title rivals.

The international break hasn't afforded us an instant pick-me-up.

In a wider sense, though, have we set the bar so high that anything negative is now seen as crisis or failure? Feast or famine?

If we had lost to Liverpool at home, instead of Stoke, would the perspective of some be any different?

I'd have felt better if we had lost to Newcastle and then beaten Liverpool and Stoke to be honest.

Once you say anything critical on here the usual blue tinted specs brigade come out in force. You're a rag or a flapper or whatever.

There's been a culmination of things really. First we had the terrible, drab draw in the champions league, that not only leaves us unlikely to progress much further (even if we qualify it'll probably be second and then we'll draw a barca or someone again), coupled with chelsea's easy draw gives them a huge advantage in the title race. Chelsea getting a good win at a very tricky away day whilst we lose at home to stoke was a big blow, then united flash the cash whilst we sell a fan favourite striker on deadline day. Tbh I think if we'd beaten stoke people would look at most things in a positive light but, as expected, the loss has put us on a downer about most things.

With the terrible CL draw, us being handicapped by the FFP spending restrictions this summer and chelsea looking so strong at this stage it wouldn't really surprise me at this stage if this season ends up a bit of a consolidation season, with us hopefully back in business next year with more money for us to spend and hopefully a better CL draw.

That said, we've got one of the best teams in the world. Stoke was one of those days. We have big game players who can go to arsenal and turn them over and there's nothing to stop us beating chelsea and munich (though winning those 3 games in one week would require a miracle). Chelsea look strong but things can change quickly in football, and I'd much rather the rags signed di maria and falcao than vidal and benatia and I still think it's unlikely they'll be rivalling us much this season. Negredo was injured for a while anyway and I think Jovetic is a superior player who can hopefully fill the void the beast is leaving. I don't think we'd have been able to keep 4 strikers happy, yes 3 leaves us looking a little precarious but 20+ million is a good fee and we can push Nasri, Silva and Yaya further forward if necessary

Let's see how it pans out. Keep the faith.

It's perfectly reasonable to express legitimate concerns after a lacklustre display three games in, despite the Prozac Squad's party line.
I share some of them, as would most folks who watched the Stoke game, but seemingly the narrative, as ever, will be set by Jim Jones and the followers of the Peoples Temple.
Just give the Kool-Aid a bodyswerve, and carry on thinking for yourself.

Obviously DD is the invigilator - but I'll stick my neck out and say great post.

I think people are more than entitled to express legitimate concerns. I just wonder how legitimate any concern can be three games into a new season when we've won two of the games including one against the team who finished 2nd to us last season. Particularly when Fernando has come in and looked like a top player and Jovetic looks like a new signing. Far more cause of optimism than concern on the balance of things so far, certainly in my opinion.
