Fans are fans. That's the long and short of it. The whole "band of brothers" thing when you have little hope of winning year after year? A coping mechanism. That isn't a condemnation either. It's simple human nature.

It isn't "raggish" to hold a team with championship prospects to a high standard. Some people use faulty criteria to judge whether the club's standard is being met or not. That's true. But expecting to win when you're one of the best teams in the league isn't "raggish."

Oh my bad...I thought expecting to win was arrogant.

It isn't. It depends. Expecting to beat... say... Wigan isn't out of line for expectations. What that doesn't mean is prima facie assumption is the correct manner in which fans should proceed. Expect to beat Wigan... but don't be surprised if it's Wigan's day.

Dont use phrases such as prima facie on here mate. You'll make their heads hurt.

a person like marwood is just not good enough to be managing transfers at a club like ours.
You have no idea if he is or not, but I'm sure our owner and Khaldoon do, and they seem to have backed him, personally I prefer their judgement to any of bluemoons keyboard directors of football.

@Citizen in Pakistan - wise up!!

Ferguson said this today: "You need a full squad at this level. We have 27 or 28 players."

Mancini said he has 19 players he can count on I believe? That's the difference, we have a better primary core of players than they do, but they have a lot of decent squad players. This is why Mancini always wants more players while the media and foolish rival fans say we're greedy and whenever a player doesn't start all the time for us (ie. Johnson) Mancini gets crucified yet Ferguson keeps loads of players in reserve.

This is the gist of it, though I think 27 is a bit much. For me 22-23 is the perfect number, but they have to be reliable

Definitely your core players are better, though RVP and Kagawa have closed the gap.

Here are some examples. You both put your first teams out and you have Nasira and Silva on the wings. United have let's say Kagawa and Nani. Now your players are better. However, lets look at the back up you have for the wings. You have Milner and Kolorov. United have Young, Valencia.

In central midfield, you have Toure, who is world class and the best midfielder in the country. So take out Carrick from United. However, compare the rest of your midfield to Uniteds's. Barry, Rodwell, De Jong and Milner. Compared with Scholes, Anderson, Fletcher, Cleverly, Jones, Powell and Giggs.

The same can be done with the defence. Kompany and Vidic are roughly the same standard here. I would personally give the edge to Kompany, due to Vidic's injury and Kompany's superior skill on the ball. However, look at the back up. Lescott, Savic and Kolo compared with Ferdinand, Smalling, Evans and Jones.

It's weird we had 70 pro's and Mancini says we have 19 players? We must have 50 youth/reserve players on the pro contacts then

We must at this point probably have the worst negotiating team possible in the league. i dont care or necessarily want 30million pound signings.its the way we go about them that really scares me.

Either marwood is terrible at his job or isnt getting the support he needs.
we can all tell that mancini is fuming over this summers activities. And dont give me this were champions blahblahblah bullcrap. Its a small club mentality. barcelona bought sanchez and fabregas the year they won the treble.

United have bought the best striker and attacking midfielder from their respective leagues last year and lets not forget we won the league with 2 minutes to go. we have no acceptable cb cover at all. if kompany got an injury like vidic last year you can deliver the league trophy to old trafford before the season ends cos savic and kolo arent upto the job.

and why on gods name are we being linked with players such as sinclair, maicon etc?wtf?are we a mid table team now?

I remember when cook got the sack ppl where cheering for joy but its no coincidence since he left that the only relatively big signing we have made is rodwell

HE brought in silva,tevez,yaya etc

People say its ffps fault were not spending, that is bullshit. We were ready to spend 35 million on hazard.
How did a player that visited our club as we beat the rags and brought him house hunting end up at a club that didnt even show interest in him until june and get the deal done pretty quickly?

What about rvp? lost out on that one also

De rossi?what in gods name were we doing putting so much time and effort into a player that was NEVER going to leave.

Also missed out on him.

our out goings...

embarrassing-adebayor,why did it take 3months to get rid of him?weve known for a year and a half that he was leaving and we end up with pennies for him

Weiss-has had 2 successful loan spells with numerous clubs looking for him but yet we sell him once again for pennies

RSC-known for ages he had no future and hes still at the club for which the club will recieve no fee if/when he leaves.

bridge-on loan to briighton were we are paying most of his wages-wtf?

ppl might think im overeacting but i think we will really regret the decision to stand still in this transfer market and its something that seriously needs to be reviewed because this window is quickly becoming terrible
That about sums it up.

Sack everyone I say and start from scratch.

well see come may wont we?hopefully your right and im wrong.

never seen premier champions recruit so little or so badly after winnin a league

That we sack everyone and start from scratch?

so we sold him for 10mil when we bought him for 7 from the championship and fletcher,a striker who got relegated was bought for 14mil

genius is that marwood

as far as I can work out we only paid £5m for him too, the 7 was in euros as far as I can see.
