Ticket Collection Paris

I don't doubt you, but if the Euros are incident free I can't see the justification next season. The final is the biggest risk so negates the whole logic of the new 'system'.

There are one or two reasons that have been given, but the overriding one is of control. Others bang on about points whores but the implementation is to ensure that the person buying the ticket is the one inside the stadium. Under the old system the club couldn't guarantee that, under the new system they can almost do it. I say almost because I know of three cases from yesterday, not many I know, where people managed to circumnavigate the system.

Wondering what the procedure is for PSV fans next Tuesday? If some had difficulties with 2000 visiting fans things would surely be tougher with more fans?
I suppose those that carried out the ticket allocation this time will be asked for feedback, and going forward things will get easier.
On a personal note, I didn't have any problems what so ever.

Just got back and a great trip.
More than happy to have to pick up the tickets at designated area if it stops the idiots and point whorers gaining points.
Got to the hotel yesterday at 11 and was dealt with within 10 mins.
Well done City

I bought a ticket on viagogo, printed at reception at hotel, shown my UK driving license on arrival at stadium and was straight in.
Was on my 2nd pint before City fans were even let out at the end. Waste of time.
I bought mine from Ticketbis. Was in very noisy section full of ultras. Great experience and didn't show any ID.
Paris is struggling to know what to do to prevent another terrorist attack - and are frequently getting it wrong. Was patted down by police on arrival at gare du nord even though I had been through Eurostar airport style security.
Everyone had to unzip their coats to get into a shopping centre to show they didn't have a suicide belt bomb - but bags weren't searched.
Most shops have a security guard holding a metal detector- but if you walk straight past him nothing happens.
Panic measures everywhere.

Individuals picking up tickets were obviously going to find a window when it was quiet.
But when 4 coach loads turn up at the same time what happens.
You couldn't even get through the door.
So what do you do, go off and find a bar ( in an area of Paris where no one wanted to be ) get ripped off at 8/9 Euros a pint and wait for the queue to clear.

The person I'm referring to did exactly that, but that doesn't mean he did it when you were there, unless you remained in the conference centre all of Tuesday and Wednesday?
My dealings with this ahem, gentleman, have been far from pleasant on the last two occasions unlike the helpful young man who sorted out my wristband and tickets, and the girl in the ticket office who ensured we were all allocated seats in the same tier. I even had a word with Ms Eaton to tell her what a good job the girl in the ticket office had done, so I think your post is a little unfair.

He was also acting the big I am on the coach park after, but he's lost his powers of arrest thank god. But I am sure he's out to make a name for himself.

pretty much agree but a hotel on either of the Metro lines that went to the ground would have made more sense

This.Think the only thing to improve might be dealing with coach loads arriving as it seemed unfair to waste the day. That said I would never have got a ticket on the old method so from me its a well done City ticket office.

.
Quick question if I can. Me and the wife went to the Munich away game last year and got the tickets from my mate and his Dad, who couldn't get to the match.
Does this method of getting the tickets basically mean that I have no chance of attending European away matches in the future?

Chisholm you say, ex copper you say....

This method ensures that if your mate and his dad can't go then the next in line points wise gets his opportunity to get a ticket
Which is why it should be done as often as possible

Squirty, You ask if I was there all Tuesday and Wednesday, of course I wasn't and that is one of the points. I was in and out (3 of us) relatively quickly. You mention helpful, friendly staff both at the hotel and the ticket office so you seem to have a problem with one person. That is not meant to be a go at you but the entire club sould not be judged on one person. I saw drunken idiots in Barcalona, I saw a mislle injure an very elderly Spanish man leaving him with a large cut on his head, I saw idiots I would not want to meet in Manchester never mind Spain. I did not see any of that in Paris and if this system helps keep knobheads away then I am all for it.
People have complained about the location of the hotel but how many hotels are going to provide a conference area large enough to take hundreds of footballs fans ? Why, with our reputation would they want to do that even though it means losing money ?
Fans say it could have been located nearer the ground, but then all you would get is everyone turning up at 7pm expeciting to get their tickets.
Reading the majority posts on this thread make it sound like it was a total nightmare which ruined the whole trip and it wasn't. I accept you had a problem with one individual but I thought the club as a whole did an excellent job.

I suppose your experience would depend on the time that you arrived there, for me it was empty with the guy with the bald head even saying "this way sir", but I can imagine arriving to a big queue and then I suppose after him watching greater Manchesters finest treat us footie fans as scum for years and years some of that is bound to rub off on him, I. e. I'm in charge and you're a nobody, sadly all the complaining in the world wont make a difference to the club, whilst we had to collect our tickets that way because that is what the French wanted, (even Chelsea fans had to do it) we must all hope that it does not become the norm, or I may well jack it in

Yes it was an inconvenience but I can see why it was implemented. Get used to it, it is here to stay. The only Euro away it will not happen is if we a fortunate to get to the final. And that is only due to the amount of fans

It is here to stay. Before Kiev anyone with 13,000+ points could get a ticket and then sell it on to anyone even if they are banned by the club or the police. Under this system they know who has the ticket. Barca and others sold out at 13,000(ish) PSG sold out at far far less, now that was due to a number of factors but one of the main reasons was the only ones getting tickets were the ones going and whether you like it or not 'Points Whores' are a big problem. This helps prevent it and it helps prevent knobheads travelling.

As long as the collection point is near a few bars , not a problem - you turn up , judge the queue , if its too long for you , go and have a few pints till it quietens down . Wasnt a problem for us on Spikes , saw how big the wait was , went for a drink for half hour , when we came back only had to queue 10 mimutes

As someone who has in excess of 15,000 points, have followed City all over Europe, and can drink and sink piss with the best of them, I'm most offended that you think future European aways won't have knobheads like me in attendance.

To be fair, there weren't hundreds of riot plod with loaded rifles in Barca though. I reckon a few people might have been less drunk had there been.

No problem for us went Tues afternoon only 4 people there picking up tickets and they were French ????

I'd be interested to know what his definition of a "drunken idiot" is. If it's one of the gimps that was chucking coins at the Barca fans below then fair enough, that kind of behaviour is bang out of order. But if it's anyone who had the tenacity to have a good time with their mates with a bit of high jinks thrown in, have one over the eight, and stumble back to their hotel in the early hours of the morning pissed but happy then I suggest he finds another sport to follow. Because as someone who was at last years Barca away game but not the previous one, from what I heard of the first Barca away match it was more raucous than the second one with literally thousands of pissed up blues falling out of bars and generally enjoying themselves. Along with some well known former players!
