Re: tickets disrtibution for todays game
I have to laugh when people come on threads and say things like "I'm a southerner/I've got a half/half scarf........am I plastic **** too?" If you're a lifelong Blue you should be secure enough in yourself to recognise that they're not talking about people like you; they're talking about the sort who treat a City match like most of us would treat going to the tennis at Wimbledon - a day out at a sport you have no particular interest in and where you aren't even slightly bothered what the outcome is.
City are playing a dangerous game by alienating some of our longer-term support, as these football tourists won't be seen for dust if things take a turn for the worse.
It's well known now that you can get tickets through official channels for pretty much any game these days (home and away) if you have the money to pay for them, and it's our normal fans who are getting screwed as a result because the amount of tickets that actually go on sale is falling with each passing week.
The admission from City that they were selling blocks of tickets to 'corporate companies' for the derby is proof of this. Further proof is the QPR title game last season. Now I know these were exceptional circumstances, but you wouldn't believe how many times that game 'sold out', only for yet more tickets to become available as part of offsite 'hospitality' packages being sold by the club for upwards of £180 for a normal seat.
Why sell a seat for £50 when you can throw in a crap meal in a hotel and charge four times as much? That's the blueprint the club is now following and I personally think it stinks. It's EXACTLY the sort of shit we spent years laughing at united for.
