Time To Name The East Stand The Trautmann Stand Now.........

Great idea....I saw Bert in action many times in the early sixties....top man, even went to his testimonial in '64.

Failing that,... the Big George Heslop stand has a nice ring to it..........:)

yeah, i was at the testimonial too, my one & only time in the Platt Lane, with my mum & my sister as my dad was on crowd control (& escorted Bert off the pitch at FT).

Its very difficult from the perspective of 60+ years to understand what a difference Bert made to improving Anglo Gerry relations at the time he played for us, when they were, err, not at their best. In short, crikey he's just like us really, but the message that would be sent by naming the stand is just as important today.

where do I sign?

Instead of the original suggestion, maybe name the North Stand after him (if people think behind the net is more appropriate). Keep the South Stand as it is and call the East Stand the (New) Kippax.

Don't suppose it makes much difference anyway really though, Eastlands is a fucking fortress now and long may it continue, whatever we call the seating arrangements. I did like "The Blue Camp" when we first moved there, but Eastlands is the name I use. Either that or "The Stadium".

Maybe don't draw Trautmann's attention to the initials of the South Stand, though?

Without doubt, Bert is the greatest Manchester City player of all time, as well as being a true ambassador for our team.

If sponsorship and FFP wasn't an issue, I'd name the stadium after him.

The guy is an absolute legend.

Walking up Joe Mercer way to be met by The Bert Trautmann stand would be awesome.

I'd be very much in favour of renaming the North Stand after him, or a least something to show our appreciation.

I reckon if someone could organise it you'd easily get enough signitures/emails/letters for the club to seriously consider it.

Hell, a giant flag for the fella would be amazing to show off and likely go a long way to the club considering a rename.

Cant understand why we don't rename the east stand , the Bert Trautmann stand now and not when the great man passes away , we don't have that many ' legends' at City , surely Berts one of them ,

Eh...you'll be saying we have no history next. As for legends - we could have the Francis Lee stand, the Summerbee stand, or what about the Tony Book end? Glyn Pardoe is City through and through - was in tears when we won the Premiership....I could go on

However, I do agree that we have options to change the boring East, South North stand names

Hands off the South Stand. I renamed it The Dave Ewing Stand when Tal Ben Haim was playing for us!
