It's EXACTLY like going to a foreign match when you"re on holiday. I've been to both Barcelona and Real Madrid in my time No massive fan of either but as a football fan great to see a big team in action in a great stadium, what's the difference? Why are some Blues so precious and parochial in their attitudes? What harm are these "tourist" fans doing?

well for one there getting tickets for game like united and arsenal, where actual city fans then can't go as it says its sold out, only to see people who aren't fans. Or the fact that tickets are being sold at stupidly high prices to try and get these tourist fans, which again prices out actual city fans. Or that we will end up like united with all the local fans in the pubs and the ground full of glory hunters and tourists, is that what you really want to happen ?

we are nothing like barcelona or real madrid and we have a completely different fan base. A loyal one thats been there for years, whats wrong with not wanting to lose that.

Btw anyone with a half and half scarf can fuck off !! :)

I assume you've noticed we're sponsored by Etihad, not TheWheelTappersAndShuntersClub?

Who made this backup troll account, come on, own up :-D

Ok i shall bite.
Most of the season ticket holders have been a mainstay of City for years and they see the changes in brutal fashion.
In at the deep end of our transformation if you will :-)

It is an amalgam of issues that coalesce , the smiley stick things, the united gear (can you imagine that seeing a united shirt in a utd bag back in the day ?).
No you can't and before you say "football has changed" it changes as the fans say it does because without them there is no footy as we know it.
Yes we do get dictated to in a sense but we always knew prices would rise and politicians would fail us right?, facts of life and all that.

So this gives you... lads and lasses supporting city from way back yonder accepting we will never do fuck all (Gillingham was as good as it would ever get and we knew it).
The "changed" bit is the new fan that follow football in a different way to how most of us are willing to comprehend. There are also hardcore blues in the making as kids in the family stand. Some i see are "touristy" though and casual footy fans (nowt wrong with that in essence i suppose).

This leaves a compromise situation and what would that be?

I would propose a ban on bringing united memorabilia into the main blocks (not tourist/rare visitor dedicated). Sneer if you will but the fact is we hate them and no blue wants to see their badge in the ground unless it is the away section on match day vs them.
A block/half block dedicated to tourist tickets this "tourist" system would include the family stand non attendees seating given primarily, they would also be allowed to have visible utd stuff kept away discretely.
If said block was left a few rows empty on a cold Tuesday in stoke situ then so be it. The benefit to "proper blues" would be worth it. The empty seats stuff is a load of old twaddle and should be treated with contempt.
I find it antagonistic and easily fixed since security don't miss a beat it should be easy to enforce.
The ejection policy should see re-seating in a more acceptable area if missed at gates.

This stuff is not hard to implement unless fans (traditional) are simply being ignored.

Edit::
Also a better system to allow long served blues first refusal, as highlighted above many general footy fans went when a blue could.
I would have gone if i thought i had a sniff of a ticket for example.
Maybe i need to wise up and be on the ball more i dunno but i have the mentality that "no season ticket at minute, no go to big match".

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

When I sat with the home fans at Valencia v Barca a few years ago I didn't take a Levante bum bag in with me.
I cheered along with Valencia fans and booed the Catalan putas ;)

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

Pretty obvious that this is going to occur more and more at the Etihad. Especially in games against a club that has been as successful in the last twenty years as Arsenal. I know plenty of people of various descents that live in Manchester who support them (Arsenal) especially Africans and several have told me it's because of the players they have had over the years.

Whatever peoples feeling about this as someone else has pointed out we need them (although I draw the line at United produce being allowed into the ground).

Go into the Market Street store on any given day and you'll usually find more overseas people than locals. I remember after we had won the title in 2012 going in with my then girlfriend (also a City fan) and we were the only Brits (staff aside) and I suddenly found myself longing for the days of waiting outside the Maine Road shop and begrudging all this new interest (a narrow minded attitude I know). I made a comment at the time to her about us being surrounded by people from all over the shop and she simply commented that United had been doing it for years and I needed to accept change.

I suppose we can't have it both ways but it does piss me off I no longer have a season ticket after having one for over 25 years and read the games are sold out and then read that others are being priced out and yet loads of non local people are getting tickets.

It is just like English fans going to Spain and doing the Barcelona stadium tour.

^^ this

Do you think that barca, Madrid, German teams fans are whining about english fans attending games??

If I went to one of Madrid's biggest games of the season, got tickets diverted to me as a priority in front of fans who go regularly, spent all game supporting the opposition (or at least getting giddy about their star players), started blocking aisles and seats in order to get the best selfie angle and was openly giddy when the opposition scored - all in home end - then I'd expect to get kicked out and, if not, be in line for a kicking from the home fans.

But that is exactly what will happen en mass in a couple of weeks when Barca play here.

Not that I condone anyone getting a kicking or would ever be involved in it but I used to see mouthy away fans get removed by stewards from the home end every week. But there is a policy in place to turn a blind eye to it at certain games now because the club actively encourage the tickets getting into the hands of neutrals/ half-arsed away fans ahead of blues.

Oh, and if I was at a match in the Nou Camp, in the home end, I wouldn't be arrogant and sad enough to start waving a St George's flag about - assuming that anyone in the ground gives a shit about where I am from or who I am 'representing'. There's not much fucking weirder than someone desperately wanting everyone in the ground - a ground where no-one gives a shit about it - to know where they are from.

Barca would be ok with the st george flag. Historically they have a lot of connections with england. Pretty sure some english partly responsible for the formation of the club with some swiss.

Indian fella in front of me at the Arsenal away game had an iphone with a manyoo screensaver on it, asked him why the fuck he would have that when at a City match, he didn't return after half time.

c**t.

That's another thing, at Everton right on the front row of lower bullens there was a Chinese man with of course the much-needed half and half scarve taking pictures with a camera round his neck like a NY tourist, how do they get away
Tickets

Fuckin hell. A foreign looking fella taking pictures with a camera? The game is ruined.

The tourists pay top whack for their tickets i presume, thereby helping to keep prices down for those who don't wear cameras.

Hear Hear,

Funny how there's empty seats for league cup games and fa cup games...

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

If City price out local fans, blame the economy, or the Ticket Office not the person paying for the seat.

I'm sure I've heard that many City fans and Utd fans used to watch each other when their team was away

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

According to supporter services on twitter, selfie sticks are banned from the ground.
