To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterday

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

Well, he is chinese... They have football for how long now? They don t know what football means in Europe. Probably he was just a tourist, not knowing what he was doing, just visiting both stadiums and buy scarfs, caps, bags as memories. Don t be so hard on him. Imagine when he will go to London - like 6-7 scarfs, right? ha ha

If City price out local fans, blame the economy, or the Ticket Office not the person paying for the seat.

I'm sure I've heard that many City fans and Utd fans used to watch each other when their team was away

Whilst on that subject...I genuinely wonder how much local support the rags get these days...Would be interesting to see a real demographic...I know a lot of the lads I know who are rags stopped going years ago due to price hikes etc etc

Are we seeing the same pattern emerging?

As some have already said, it's a sign of the times. If you are a Chinese fan of the Premier League, with no particular affinity for any team, and you save up to come to England for your holiday with the sole purpose of watching football, it's quite probable you're going to get to as many games as you can and visit the famous teams' shops to get merchandise - for yourself, for your mates, your family, possibly even to flog when you get home..... And you've got to remember that most of these people will have no inkling of what it's like to have a local rival whose name you can hardly even bring yourself to say without spitting phlegm...

OK, I admit, it does wind me up, but we've got to put up with it to some extent.... and having a special "tourist stand" is ridiculous, as one of the reasons most will come to watch the games is for the atmosphere, which would be rubbish in a segregated stand!

I once went Munich and bought stuff from the Bayern shop and the 1860 shop then walked round with both bags, like a proper tourist. I don't support either of the clubs and just wanted a couple of souvenirs for the kids. This bloke probably did the same sort of thing but actually spent money coming to watch city and I see nothing wrong with it apart from he should have known to be a bit more discrete with the bag.

Re: To the Chinese "fan" sat in front of me at game yesterda

There's a difference between a tourist and a fan. Im not bothered about tourists with rag stuff but I'd not allow a rag supporting them sat in any home section in the stadium.

I'd rather have a Chinese tourist in full rag kit sat behind me in place of the graduate of David Moyes Tactical Genius School that's there now.

Just waiting for him to do the 'what the ref is signalling when he holds both arms forward with palms turned upwards after a foul' course.

If I went to one of Madrid's biggest games of the season, got tickets diverted to me as a priority in front of fans who go regularly, spent all game supporting the opposition (or at least getting giddy about their star players), started blocking aisles and seats in order to get the best selfie angle and was openly giddy when the opposition scored - all in home end - then I'd expect to get kicked out and, if not, be in line for a kicking from the home fans.

But that is exactly what will happen en mass in a couple of weeks when Barca play here.
And that's exactly what it was like in the Nou Camp last time we played them. There were hundreds of City fans in the home ends making themselves known. It doesn't only happen at the Etihad.

Others have pointed out what's clearly happened with this particular fella and while he should have been more discrete with his shit shopping, I don't really see a big deal with it; he's obviously a football tourist rather than a dyed-in-the-wool rag.

Much more disturbing was the Thai woman in the City end at Chelsea away last season openly wearing a united raincoat. She'd obviously made a conscious decision to go to the match dressed like that, the silly twat.

The club is a joke now, football is fucked. Selfie sticks seriously, in the next 5 years i reckon more and more bluemooners will not renew . Doesn't mean you're less of a fan. I would get arrested if i had away fans celebrating near me.

My lads best mate's dad Barry, has had a season ticket with the rags since 1965 until this season . He binned it because last season they started charging fans for using the lifts.

I hope we don't go down this route, please no!!
