According to Bluemoon they'd be shit without Van Persie.. last year it was Rooney, the year before that it was Rooney and the year before that it was Ronaldo. We all hate them, but to suggest they're 'shit' or a 'one man team' is so embarrassing.

I have never said they were shit or a one man team so you can't be talking about me.

My argument is that they have been an average side apart from the play of that year's marquee player for the last three years. And I think facts would support my assertion.

And that argument is not mutually exclusive--it can be said of us last season and the season before as well.

Anichebe did well then. Well... Apart from forgetting to keep the ball at his feet

I don't see any fast tempo, it was just their defender was shite, shite marking on Giggs, shite and just more shite, yet Everton play us with 10 men in the box.

It wasa long ball in and then a scramble to get to the ball. I'd say that is a fairly quick tempo.

Are they really that good? They never look it to me yet here we go again.

They are not. Without Van Persie they would be a very average side.
No they wouldn't don't be so deluded, they've been successful for the past 20 years without him and last season they finished level on point with us with him.

I am not deluded. Read my recent response. I am not making an extreme statement, nor am I saying they are awful. And I am only making the argument for the last three years (I am honest enough to admit they were dominant for long periods as a team before these last few years).

For some reason people seem to be reading my posts and thinking of someone else's argument.

Get your cards out Halsey, they get away with so many tactical fouls that other teams are given yellows for, like the one from Jones before that killed a counter attack.

Take van persie out and they still have an excellent squad. Its there system which makes them so successful not individual players. For us its the opposite.

The whole pace thing is a myth, we keep the ball and play slowly because against a team like Everton they rarely venture out of their own half, how else can you play? Same at QPR, they never came out their own box, it doesn't matter how fast you play when your playing an anti-football team you can't do much.

That is not entirely true, either. There are plenty of instances I can recall where I was quite literally screaming "pass the ball upfield" as an open Aguero, Dzeko, or Tevez were just standing there...

But we didn't. We passed it 10-15 times before it got near the opponents box. It may not be as often as we sometime think but it is in no way a myth.

Sometimes i agree on what some say that we don't shoot when we should be doing but i don't agree on pace, we don't have any pacey players, we have several players who are great on the ball so it makes sense to keep the ball.

I think the key to playing best is playing to your strengths and playing at this 'pace' thing isn't a strength without fast players, of which we don't really have any. The only time i've seen any sort of pace is when we used to push Yaya forward and he'd make his runs but we don't have the players to do it, we sold Nigel and our arguably only other fast player was Balotelli who we also sold, the rest are play to the feet and work the ball forward players.

The main weakness i see in our team at the moment is in midfield, especially centrally, Nasri yesterday was a joke, he gets the ball, passes, makes a run and that is the sum total of his contribution in every game i've seen. Barry is great in games where we dominate possession and we are just knocking on the door, but when we get caught forward he is FAR to slow.

If we want to play at pace, we can't do so at risk of getting caught forward which means the opposition has to be attacking us and we counter, not many teams do that.

Everton are too predictable with their crosses. Every cross of theirs is just aimed at Fellaini. Might be just me though..
