Tokyo 2020 Olympics/Paralympics

Why did they get DQ’d, any idea?
The GB quartet when interviewed afterwards suggested the line up may change for the final. I hope so cos no disrespect intended, but the last leg athlete looked like he was running through treacle on that last 200m

I don't really see the point of the race at the Olympics, it's a mess, like all the mixed swimming/triathlon - I don't see how it has merit.

The 400m runners have a relay and the individual to go, so they'll be hoping to have got through without giving them an additional race.

Watching it already knowing they've been disqualified, I at first thought it was for obstructing the lane of the Irish women who had to sidestep someone at the start of their leg but replays showed it was because one of them wasnt in the correct position for the handover which meant the guy in the leg before ran over the hand-off marker which equals instant disqualification. Looks as though the officiating was a shitshow though so theres an outside chance they may have a legit appeal

It was better for Rio 2016 imho, where yes, they broadcast from Salford, but did it with windows & natural light and the Quays in the background iirc, instead of this green screen shite.
It looks like the graphic effects are from the early 00s, like watching those Star Wars episodes 1-3… shite!

Yeah, as someone who is involved in the sport at a club level, it already can be a source of frustration/jealous from athletes in all the other disciplines how many bites of the cherry 400m runners get. When they pick squads, it’s not just individual and relay, but then relay squad runners too. Now this event at well… if you’re gonna do it (and I agree it’s not needed) then why not choose a different distance

It also relies gifts medals to countries with both men and women of a good standard. A few years ago, Grenada had the best 400m male runner, but could never compete in this. They didn't even have 16 entrants for the event.

I don't see what it offers, especially as only 1 country (Nigeria) didn't field MWWM, and they didn't make the final.

Yeah, you’re not going to get chance to see Shaunae Miller Uibo in this, that’s for sure.
