Tommy Hutchison failed to turn up. City or his fault ??

Yeah, but 'which City player had a porno 'tache in the 81 cup final' isn't.

Fuck it, I've told you the answer now.
Most of the fans did ..ha

You think that your moustache is trendy, You think your Kickers boots are too. With your Kangol and your fleece, Ben Sherman on for weeks, We know that you're a f*cking blue...

I'm not sure what difference it makes to City whether he was flogging his book or not. Very weird decision, especially as I was under the impression that we do a good job in looking after our former players.

It strikes me as a mix up/miscommunication somewhere or we're not getting the full picture.

People have said other former players have sold books at similar events, the club was obviously being pretty pleasant by putting him up and hosting the event. Obviously something doesn't add up.

Maybe it's to do with licensing around what is sold in the stadium on match days, maybe it's a mix up between staff at City, maybe Hutchison is missing out part of the story.

Tommy Hutchison was 33 when we signed him mate. He looks older than you, and that's saying something! ; )

Played 2 less games for us than Andy Morrison, yet Morrison is seen as a club legend. Understandable as he took the team by the scruff of the neck and helped get us out of the 3rd tier, but Tommy Hutch arguably had a similar impact when he signed for us

Well said, This thread would of gone a different way had Andy Morrison or Paul Lake been refused too sell their book. Of that I'm fuckin certain.

As I said its a long trek from Scotland to Mid Cheshire for one night.
It sounded like from your original post that he was coming to your Supporter's club do and then the club offered him the opportunity to do something else while there. If so, then he could still have come down.

You also mentioned the club offered to put him up in a hotel for a couple of nights and he could have promoted his book there (just not sold it). If the club has allowed other former players to do it, I doubt they would have refused him the same option and there is probably more to it.

Perhaps the club just expected him to interact and mingle with the fans, rather than just trying to sell his book. Maybe he just didn't fancy it in the end and was looking for an excuse.

We don't know the full story, from both sides, so we aren't really in a position to judge fairly.
