Toni Kroos

Kroos would have been a decent shout to replace Yaya but I think his physical side is would we would miss the most if Yaya does leave his strength, speed(he is quick for a man of his size) and power is vital for retaining possession and breaking up play. Vidal would be a great shout cant see it happening though, is there a Matuidi with better passing and finishing available??!lol

If Yaya is going to leave, I think Kroos is the man most capable of replacing him.

Of course they are very different players, but I think Kroos will be the best midfielder in Europe for the next 5 years. His passing range is on a par with Pirlo and Scholes, and his ability to dictate games is potentially up there with Xavi and Yaya himself. It's interesting to note he's completed more passes than any other player in the World Cup.

Losing Yaya means we would be losing that physicality and power, but I think Fernando will bring this, and Kroos could potentially be even better than Yaya at running games through his passing.

Of course it looks very likely he will remain at Bayern, but if his contract issue is not resolved, he only has one year left on his contract. If we sold Yaya for 35m and offered 45m for Kroos I think we'd get him.

It would be a lot of money for Bayern to turn down for a player they could potentially lose for nothing in 12 months. If we sell Yaya, I'm sure Kroos would be more than happy with his 250k a week.

Imagine if you could buy a 24 year old Xavi, who was bigger, stronger and more suited to the English game. That's Toni Kroos.
£45 mil for someone in the last year of his contract? Seriously? Not seen much of Kroos, but is he as good as everyone makes out? I've heard he's pretty slow and that apart from passing and the occasional long shot, there's not much more to his game. Like Schweinsteiger but without the defensive capabilities.

You could say the same about Xavi, Pirlo, Scholes...
But we're replacing Yaya, who has a much more physical side to his game and is further up the field than they would operate. We've not had a proper deep-lying playmaker since Pizarro.

If Kroos is going to Madrid then where does this leave Isco?

What happened to us potentially getting him on loan? Was that just a rumour?

MARCA Cover: DONE! Real Madrid have an agreement with Bayern Munich over the signing of Toni Kroos - €25 million.

1. Probably will require a 3 man midfield and a wide forward to compensate for physicality and lesser goal output
2. That is way too much for someone who is in the last year of his contract and is probably at or very near his peak. 20-25 million pounds is much more reasonable and likely
3. Too much IMO. You want him to be paid more than Silva and Sergio. 200k including massive bonuses is more likely

I agree that for Yaya's primary role in the team Kroos is the closest substitute, but regardless, I think he wants to/will go to Real.

1. I agree it would require a 3 man midfield but I think we're heading that way long term anyway.

2. The market price depends on how many alternatives there are and how many teams want to buy him (supply and demand). There are very few alternatives, if any, with the quality of Kroos. And if you think we bid 20m for him, do you not think Madrid, The Shite and Chelsea would bid more?

If he wasn't in the last year of his contract, he'd be worth a lot more and we'd have no chance of getting him. The Shite paid 20m for a 30 year old Van Persie in the last year of his contract. Kroos is 24.

3. Too much in your opinion, again it comes down to what that quality of player can command. We've got Lescott, Barry and probably Richards and Yaya off the wage bill, all on big big money. We can afford it and I think he's worth it.

German TV this morning reported that deal has been done with Real for 25m to be announced after World Cup.

Kroos denying any agreement and will decide future till after WC, hence back to square one...

@MiguelDelaney: Kroos on Real: "Nothing has been decided and that will not happen during the World Cup."

@MiguelDelaney: Kroos: "I said quite clearly that, during World Cup, no decision will be made. I want to concentrate on World Cup. Nothing has been agreed."

If we can agree a huge fee with PSG for Yaya, I'd blow them out of the water for Kroos. He could take us to a different level in the Champions League.

I really don't get the hype that surrounds Kroos. I've watched him maybe 10 times now. Out of those games I've only seen him play well once. When BM beat Arsenal and he scored. I think in this world cup that Schweinsteiger has been streets ahead of him. This is the same at a club level. I see Robben, Muller and Schweinsteiger doing it week in week out, and Kroos is just along for the ride. He reminds me of Carrick in a way. Doesn't get stuck in, but can find a decent pass when he gets his head up. Would be rubbish with lesser players. If Munich really wanted to keep him, they would just offer him the wages he is asking for. Although, they do have plenty of options to chose from.

He's got really good shot power and passing on Fifa. If I were to play as Bayern Munich I'd rather play him than Gotze in midfield. Plus he's rated 84, definitely justifies his price tag.
