Kroos wins the world cup and he will get his contract. Pep though would rather build the team around Thiago and Kroos stands in the way of that.

Mourinho kept saying last year that he wanted to keep Mata and Luiz, but he never did. Kroos played the most minutes, because Thiago was injured for most of the season. Money is a bit of a problem, because Kroos wants to be paid at the same level as Ribery, Robben and Gotze, which he probably deserves to be. If Pep really wants him to stay then all he has to say is he considers Kroos to be a key player and vital to the team.
