Too many vehicles on uk roads

Until there is a sensible viable public most likely subsidised public transport system it's only going to get worse. Public transport should be in public hands it's the only viable solution, the private module appears to be subsidised purely to pay the shareholders dividends.

If there was a frequent, fast, safe and cheap reliable public transport system the majority would use it.
As it is you wait ages, often in the cold and rain, for a bus that is often very late, if it turns up at all. They run one an hour at weekends and after 6pm on a weekday, the last one being 22.52. Useless.
And tram stops offer bugger all protection from wind and rain.

Many councils seem to think making driving more difficult/expensive is the answer rather than improving public transport. That will never get people out of their cars.

It's bizarre that, the same with the bus stops in central Manchester. They seem to have adopted a European design while forgetting it's Manchester and totally unsuitable. Their only defence is they probably did it to prevent better shelters being used by the homeless and gangs of teenagers.
