Tories win Copeland b-election.

Corbyn never wanted to be the leader. He'll step down as soon Labour can come up with an alternative hard left candidate, once the left have taken complete control of the party.
You may be right, they've already done it with Miliband, then gone further left with this bloke, both with disastrous
consequences although, other than McDonnell, I don't know who'd fit such a bill.
If they do go down that route, then it really is game up.

It used to be the stock excuse of the left for electoral failures that the party weren't sufficiently left-wing. Well now they are and they're failing even more.

This gem from the BBC website:
Jeremy Corbyn says he will not step down following Labour's Copeland by-election loss to the Conservatives. The Labour leader said the result was disappointing but he had been elected twice and was "proud" to continue.
Jeremy - the result was bad BECAUSE you've been elected twice.

Yes, it has been an excuse by the left for some time now that Labour was just 'Tory Lite.'
Unless they understand that that's exactly what the electorate want, they won't get near power.

I never said he was perfect did I? Nobody is save for our David Silva. But I'll take his principles over those of any Tory you care to choose any day.

If only I'd known that there was such wisdom to be found amongst the posters on this venerable forum I could have cleared up all my obvious delusions years ago!

Perhaps I could step out of the shower like Bobby Ewing and discover that the last 50 years of my life had been but a dream and we all lived in a Tory led utopian paradise!!

Are you saying the ups and downs of your life is the fault of the Tories?

Well those four topics I mentioned make him a

Liar
Dishonest
Hypocrite
Coward

Well done I'm glad you can run with these principles. The good old left and their superior morals

The country needs a strong opposition regardless of who is in power , at the moment the government are getting a free ride , shocking situation .

Care to explain?

Corbyn has been systematically demonised by the media from day one.

I believe the reason for that is his plans to redistribute wealth, to make big companies pay their tax and indeed to increase it would never be allowed.

He isn't a front man. Someone on here said it's as much about the messenger as the message and this is something I agree with.

The question for labour is who can take up the challenge and people can believe in? They have no one. Every single contender is an empty jersey. The result of this is an establishment hell bent on preventing a left wing alternative and the left wing alternative being championed by a guy who comes across as principled but not inspiring to enough people.

The result is that May tries to secure this ground by shedding crocodile tears about the plight of working class people, whilst still pursuing policies that sees this group pay the price for Tory voting bankers fuck ups. And getting away with it

Labour up here have been decimated because they are inept. They didn't help that by standing shoukder to shoulder with the Tories during the Indy ref and have been electorally massacred for that treachery.

The loss of 40 Labour MPs from Scotland makes anyone in the Labour leaderships task a lot harder.
We abandoned Labour because they have forgot what labour should be. A right wing Tory lite is not an alternative to us.

Corbyn and Labour getting mauled and rejected sends us a clear signal that the rest of the uk is heading to the right and Brexit confirmed that. The future for us is 1 Tory wanker, a he us a total wanker, being elected up here and we have to suffer eternal Tory rule.

That is not an option for us but it is the reality for everyone else. Labour being abysmal and Brexit could help swing a yes vote in the next Indy ref. Time will tell.
