Why Always Ste

City are funded mostly by global TV revenues and Arab money. The top brass are Spanish and the manager Italian. Our favourite players are Argentines, Spaniards, Belgians and Ivorians. Apart from the tea lady and non-football staff, there isn't a Manc in sight at the club.
Why would we expect the support to remain (almost) exclusively local?
Haha tbh Bud any time I go into town on a work day It's a rarity I'll come across a local accent.
One issue that hasn't been mentioned too much is how people on low points are getting tickets when in particular a fan with XXXX points can't get the ticket
Now we will fall into the blame culture now with this issue but from my understanding of how these tickets get to JCL/Tourist whatever you want to call them it's:
Dedicated Blues (or Touts who know Dedicated Blues) selling on tickets via websites such as Viagogo, and football ticket websites designed specifically for tourists ie; in different languages, advertising on travellers guide websites etc etc.
Blues with points are shifting tickets to People with little to no loyalty points.
I'mnot saying this is widespread, like there's thousands doing it but it does go on.
So if you wanna point the finger when sniggering at the Tourist with his 1/2 sarf just think: who was the lad from Gorton who sold him that ticket?
A more sizeable process of obtaining tickets is through Club/FA/EPL/UEFA Sponsors
As in you may know someone who works at a Budweiser factory, they get tickets for the FA Cup Match, they don't really like Football so they give the tickets on to whoever.
Or a business is the match ball sponsor or has an history of sponsorship with the club or has paid out £XXXXX on a corporate day out and gets courtesy tickets which then go to employees (some of whom may sell them on)
Another way of obtaining tickets is through City Staff, many of whom will have no interest in the game and or watching City.
So the new 16yr old Academy player gets given 10 tickets, he can't be arsed going so gives them to whoever, or the guy who feeds the cat at Carrington, maybe he gets given tickets....
For a long period I couldn't afford a Season Ticket, couldn't even afford to get to selective games if I'm honest so on many occasions I would wait and buy tickets off Touts at a very low rate (sometimes I got in for free)
Other occasions I recall stood outside the stadium after travelling there hearing you all cheering, not being able to afford a ticket or being let down whilst waiting to buy someones SC for the day.
So I became aware of these processes and they were going on for years long before Sheikh Mansour became involved.
The only difference now is the people buying the tickets has branched out to far and wider places, so rather than some scrotey local kid who couldn't afford to get in, waiting for touts to get him in cheaper... These seats are now being sold online weeks in advance to Tourists with higher disposable incomes.
Will this eventually price me out again?
Probably :(
But blaming the buyer is unfair, have a look at the seller... or is this harder to stomach as some of the sellers are Mad fer it?
