How about if it's Japanese comic book nonsense?
Not my bag mate.

That war criminal film will be a hard watch. Like bigga says it will do Shit but wil win every award. The acting looks like sir Ben at his best.
A heavy and hard watch, best watched when feeling masochistic I dare say, if it cuts no corners it will disturb many viewers.

I have not seen to many others geared up to win at awards really you see. this is my reasoning for it to do well. Not sure about the awards thing until I see a better cut. But, with it being out in Aug, I'm not sure they have a better one.
I hope I'm wrong. I think it will get nominated here and there, but getting one? Mm, not sure.
Kingsley does look back to some of his skill full best, I agree.

GTFI, now is the real golden age for cgi. Films we could never have approached before are now doable, no matter how mad the cgi will need to be.
I don't think I've ever experience the undoing of curiosity when it comes to trailers.
I either want to see it or I don't. But never wanting to really see it to really not wanting too.
This second trailer drop has done that for me...
@Bigga I am an admittedly big fan of Star Trek (everything but the original series), but after watching the first three or four episodes of Discovery, I was not that enamoured and let my CBS All Access trial expire (the show was the only reason I signed up).Agreed, its fuckin brilliant.
Early 2019 though......:-(

Did I give up too soon or is it just a matter of Roddenberry/TNG v Abrams/Reboot tastes?
Oh, and I came across this the other day — apparently there may be a few more shows in the works:

Loved the book. Loved the McQueen/Hoffman version.
Best star trek since TOS and despite a few things that irked me (still don't like the new concept klingons) they managed to be a completely fresh and diferent while tieing into the continuity of the franchise and not dismisisng it (unlike the shite khan remake into darkness was evwn if it is adifferwnt timeline).
Thankfully they went for a more TOS, DS9, Voyager action/science fiction style not the boring TNG drone on about fucking diagnostics, waffle and if an andriod can cry bullshit

In my opinion, yes, you gave up too soon!
Without doubt, it's not perfect, none of them are. However, with this series I think they're trying to break the mould of linear thinking for the Star Trek franchise. It's never really crossed the morality threshold of what needs to be done in war, which kind of sets this apart already, and it never really explored the Klingon empire except by lip service. This is touching that line a little more.
The lines of conflict and morality are brilliantly blurred and there are actually no good guys, depending on a point of view.
I already put it in my top 2 renditions of the show.
The series is available for 'free' on Kodi or other alternative means.
You might as well dip in!
As for the other stuff about the Star Fleet Academy, if I was show running, I would wait for a series or 3 of 'Discovery' to see if it holds interest in story line and/ or audience.
It would be a mistake of Marvel proportions to just jump in over hype on a new series.
Cheers, I’ll give it another go tonight.Best star trek since TOS and despite a few things that irked me (still don't like the new concept klingons) they managed to be a completely fresh and diferent while tieing into the continuity of the franchise and not dismisisng it (unlike the shite khan remake into darkness was evwn if it is adifferwnt timeline).

Nevermind, you’ve spoiled it.Agree with all that, but if they don't bring Jason Isaacs back I'm going to be well pissed.

Mmm...
Something seems 'off' about the trailer. Maybe it's the standard direction, already. Maybe it's the B-C list actors involved.
One needs talent to retell an already great story for me...
I like your hammer and smash approach!!
