Training Moved To Etihad Day Before Matches

We've come a long way since Joe Royle used to take the players to a local school in a mini bus for the pre match warm ups before games at Maine Road as they were intimidated by the ground haven't we!

Was that the reason they did that Dan? ffs.

I remember it will. I seem to remember that Royal was trying to use our big crowds to our advantage.

When they travelled through the crowds and got of the bus at the stadium half an hour before kick off, they were cheered and clapped and it was supposed to hype them up.

I love this.

Small decision but can't see anything but positives here
What are the positives if I may ask?
A feel for the stadium?
A feel for the pitch?
A feel for positional play on that pitch?

That's just 3 off the top of my head and i'm sure someone with far more footballing knowledge than me will be able to come up with more.

Better food ;-)

You can't get a Jamie Oliver burger at Carrington Squirty

Pellers has decided that training on the day before matches will be carried out on the Etihad pitch to give the team the chance to familiarise themselves with their surroundings
This is starting from today incase anybody is thinking of trekking down to Carrington
Think this is an excellent idea, Mercer and Allison often had the team training on Maine Rd

Yep , good idea ....... judging by the Cardiff shambles , this team looks like it needs all the help it can get !

Will this effect the stadium tours when the 1st team are training @Etihad, say on a Friday?

Not that i really give a toss, like...

A very good idea for mine. I remember Sir Dave Brailsford the GB bike team manager at the Olympics explaining why Team GB had done so magnificently in London.
He said it is all about improving all the marginal minor points that leads to a dramatic overall effect. Seems to me that is what MP is doing, it aint no big deal but hopefully one on the road to the success we all want.

Dzeko and t'other strikers will be able to work out the direct line between my seat, their heads and the goal so that I have a clear line from me to striker to goal!

I don't see any negatives to this, but i don't really see any positives either!

We have an incredible home record spanning several seasons... i'd hardly say our players have shown signs of being unfamiliar with the stadium! The dimensions of the training pitches are the same as The Etihad, so being able to adjust positionally is not a benefit either... it's identical.

But yeah, there's no downside either. I'm indifferent about this decision. It wont make a blind bit of difference where they train the day before a match.
