Great hair though. Handsome bastardGarcia had the turning circle of an aircraft carrier, & ran like he was wading through treacle.
Nastasic was shite tooView attachment 103711
Manchester City missed out on two gamechanger signings after winning Premier League for the first time...
"Manchester City were hopeful of making two game-changing signings after their first Premier League title but ended up experiencing a horrific transfer window.
City pipped rivals Manchester United on goal difference in the dying seconds of the season, with Sergio Aguero scoring a last-gasp winner against QPR.
Roberto Mancini already had a talented squad at his disposal but immediately stressed the need to continue strengthening.

Mancini identified Robin van Persie and Eden Hazard as their top two targets and hoped for to land the pair for a total of £60 million.
He also wanted to sign Daniele De Rossi from Roma but ended up with one of the worst collection of signings for a title-winning side.

Brian Marwood signed Scott Sinclair, Jack Rodwell, Javi Garcia, Matija Nastasic and Maicon and unsurprisingly finished in second place, 11 points behind United."
I'm STILL scarred by that shit 2012 summer transfer window. IIRC, none of the players Marwood bought were at City 2 seasons later.
Nastasic aside, the rest were an unmitigated disaster & a complete waste of money. No wonder Mancini was so pissed. ¯\_(⊙_ʖ⊙)_/¯

I thought he had potential at the time & seemed the best of a poor transfer window.Nastasic was shite too
Yeah, he was named after some sort of sea critter, so crab, octopus or guppy... It's all the same to me. :-)Octopus that's it! Played like he was drowning. Utter waste of money.
He was an upgrade on Savic at that time who he replaced, although Savic has since gone on to have the better career, but his antics for Athletico against us shouldnt be forgotten.Nastasic was shite too
We’d have been better off having Betty Turpin and Blanch Barlow at CB than Garcia and Demichelis.Garcia's first season was a bit underwhelming, but he started every game of that 13/14 run-in and took us over the line. He was also crucial in two key away games against Newcastle and Hull that season when he had to step into defence due to injuries (and Kompany being sent off) and saw us through with two clean sheets in 2-0 wins. He partnered Demichelis on both occasions.
Don’t recall that at all, of all the signings in that window Rodwell excited many due to his early career. Looked a real player at times.Yes. A collective sigh could be heard I think!
You couldn’t have gone to many (any) actual games then.Javi Garcia was literally the worst player I have ever seen in a city shirt and I’ve been going since 86.
I think average is fair, doesn’t take away his legend status now though. Don’t rewrite history it is what it is.Gundogan was by no means average in his first four seasons at City. He was injured for the majority of the first, for one. But as others have mentioned, he was a fine squad player in the 17/18 season - his first proper season - and then covered for the #6 and #8 positions when De Bruyne and Fernandinho were injured for the run-in during the 18/19 season. He had a bit of a below-par season in 19/20 but, honestly, aside from Sterling and De Bruyne, so did everyone. From 20/21 he's been exceptional, but calling him average beforehand is a bit much imo.

Nastasic used to wind me up. So soft. I wasnt a fan.He was an upgrade on Savic at that time who he replaced, although Savic has since gone on to have the better career, but his antics for Athletico against us shouldnt be forgotten.
Have a think of the utter shite that played for us from 86 til 2008. I reckon with a spare 10 mins i could come up with a full 11 plus subs who were worse. Maybe even another 11.Javi Garcia was literally the worst player I have ever seen in a city shirt and I’ve been going since 86.
They'd of probably had more skill.Yeah, he was named after some sort of sea critter, so crab, octopus or guppy... It's all the same to me. :-)
And I raise you.. Gerry Creaney(Paul Walsh swapped and a lot of money) And we can't even blame this one on balding Peter.Have a think of the utter shite that played for us from 86 til 2008. I reckon with a spare 10 mins i could come up with a full 11 plus subs who were worse. Maybe even another 11.

The last game of the season, was it v derby? Cant remember but he bagged 2 and looked the part and i thought he would come good that next seasonDon’t recall that at all, of all the signings in that window Rodwell excited many due to his early career. Looked a real player at times.
Couldn’t disagree more. Part of me understands why Barton gave Dabo a hiding.Javi Garcia was literally the worst player I have ever seen in a city shirt and I’ve been going since 86.
Yep, people were constantly moaning that he was in the team in Pep's early seasons. What does he do? He wasn't the obvious spectacular talent of Toure or Silva. But perhaps it was more our collective failure to notice what he does, rather than him actually being average. I think people didn't really appreciate him until his 17 goal season, but even though he never repeated that, people realised how important he was for controlling games.I think average is fair, doesn’t take away his legend status now though. Don’t rewrite history it is what it is.
