This is not football manager, playing forward for Manchester City is a very niche position, the choices are less.

If we wanted we could get someone like Aubameyang easily from a "history club".
Manchester United were with Dan James in the RW for 3 seasons, I'm guessing you could apply the same to them ?

Stop. You know fine rightly what I am talking about. We have threads discussing elite forwards. We lost a world class forward and for whatever reason we can’t get another world class forward to join.

According to most the Player Is either:

Overpriced
Too old
Agent is trouble
Only wants Real or Bayern
Won’t play in England

What we don’t like to hear is that the player is not interested.

It’s time we either stopped chasing these players or man up and go and get who we want.
 
One thing that's not considered are the 'races' that happen well before things become public. Effectively the race before the race.

For example, it might be worth asking how many clubs tried to get in touch with Grealish's agent last year only to hear that he had his heart set on City? We don't know of course, but that's my point.

Of all the players we signed, there's every chance we won them over ahead of other clubs before our interest became public domain. I imagine many were uncontested, but it'd be naive to think that other top clubs wouldn't have been interested in City players before they were City players.


The last time I recall us actually winning a public race for a player was Jesus, although I guess you could argue Bernardo counted as one too.

Am I just stupid? How did Ronaldo get 171 apps in Serie A in 3 years? Do they have like 60 games in season?

We only really tried for one and he didn’t go anywhere else. We had an half hearted look at ronaldo, but never really committed. to it.
