But it was a Buzz.
Ayresome park was always
Bullocks coaches from Cheadle for the most part. Train for tge rest. Drove home with a pane of glass on the coach missing/badly cracked and held together with duct tape on about 10 occasions.
Yeah but Rusholme is along way from where I lived in Bramhall! Cheadle was a 30 minute bus ride.Better by Finglands.

I was at that game with my dad. We were walking to the ground and he had his City scarf on. I told him to take it off, and he said, they wouldn’t bother an older bloke like him. We turned the corner and a female City was being pelted with drinks. Scarf came off pretty sharpish.Anyone remember an FA Cup game at Newcastle in Jan 1977? There was over-crowding in the Gallowgate end where the Geordies were and the police had to take people out and were putting them with the City fans. Eventually it kicked off and spilled onto the pitch. The police formed a cordon across the pitch but some loony came charging out of the Gallowgate end. He must have thought loads were behind him but no one else followed. He leapt on a coppers back (who didn't see him coming) then loads of coppers kicked the shit out of him in the middle of the pitch. God knows what they did to him when they got him in the cells.
I don't think there was a single City fan I saw on the way back that didn't have a black eye or bloody nose.
Victoria Station when coming back from Yorkshire and the North East was always a problem.Never enough cops (don`t know why ;)) and it regularly kicked off big style.Too many stories from the 70's, but who remembers coming back to piccadilly from places like stoke etc, kicking off with Cockney reds on the platform, then escorted out the back way off the station because there was too many rags waiting for us!!!.
Bloody hell I was just going to comment on Big Helen. As long as you weren't on Helen's coach.
