response to your tilting at windmills
Once again you continue to get little sly digs in at people.

Who are you? Talking about Vig and (wales) Whales, most people
on this forum haven't got a clue what these two terms refer to.

You must think you are Sam Rothstein or Phil Hellmuth.
Why don't you post up some of your P/L from your sports-book
or poker accounts.

And as you say you have cashed in a live game there will be proof of this
somewhere.

I am prepared to be shot down in flames on this one,and will never doubt you again
I await your response

would you like to put your money where your mouth is on this?

how much do you want to bet?

;o)

anyone can look up the terms vigorish and whale as they pertain to gambling; they're no big secret.
Why don't you post up some of your P/L from your sports-book
or poker accounts.

And as you say you have cashed in a live game there will be proof of this
somewhere.
Still waiting...........

okay Sheriff, how much are you willing to bet me that I'm making all this stuff up - which is what you're seemingly implying?

(and I don't have to prove anything to you, let alone post stuff up on here, but I will if you'd like to bet me on it, happily... and what I've done is nothing; there are plenty of people - or there were before the Port Authority bill, who were making much more than I did. I was only filling in between contracts and making money on the side, which is what this thread and others have touched on. I'm not making any sly comments or putting people down, I'm merely sharing what I know, and helping anyone who'd like to get a better grasp of the numbers what's going on when they walk into a casino or go down the bookies. People over the years have done the same for me, it's how I learned too. Attempting to win money in the long term either at the casino in their house games or in the bookies is next to a mathematical impossibility for the former, and extremely difficult for the latter. I'm more than happy to share stuff with people when I've got the time, but as you've said above, if you'd like me to humiliate you and teach you a lesson then let's talk about how much first shall we?)

Please please please let me get what I want, MCFCin USA. Maybe start a thread re your gambling seminars and let's get back to LeeOnePen's game. I don't doubt you are telling the truth but this thread is all over t'place. Come on LOP, tell em. And good luck today.

The mere fact that you want to gamble on what you say is true or not
speaks volumes about you,you don't have to put up any thing on this
forum if you don't want to,but to eulogize about past exploits on a public
board without showing any proof when asked says it all.

I may have won the lottery but i wouldn't brag about it on here
You may think the term "Tilting at windmills" was just a throw away
remark, but in fact it suggest that LOP attempts at making money
are futile, and in turn he doesn't have a clue what he is doing.
We are all looking for that "edge"but it is not that easy.

As i have stated i am prepared to be embarrassed on this, but no
money will be changing hands.

And as for being humiliated I'm a City fan living in Manchester, and you will have to go to the
ends of the earth to even come close to the humiliation
i have suffered over the past 35yrs.

Has anybody got any good betting tip websites?

OLBG and OH racing are both heavily used forums. The best free tipster around is Hugh Taylor for the At The Races site, you can view his month by month profits since he started, hugely impressive.

Bank standing at 45ish, nothing today as I'm on an all day drinking bender and make a rule of never betting drunk. Good luck all.

I consider horse/dog betting way too risky, I love the old roulette in the bookies, just been in and first number out 29, two spins and up pops 7, then zero, stake 40 quid, took out 300 straight in to the Tsb :)

See, I find that fascinating. I've owned a couple of dogs at belle vue in my time, so know how bent it can be, but I think horse racing if you know what you're doing can be profitable. I'm not trying to claim I'm at McfcinUSA levels, but I turn a nice profit month by month, not enough to quit work, but enough to improve my quality of life a little. On the other hand, I'd never go near a bookies machine - thats not in any way intended to be a judgement on you deniro, you're clearly getting them to pay and that's impressive stuff. Just not for me.

for the record, I USED to gamble for a living; I don't anymore - it was the most boring thing in the world for me, but it paid the bills in between my moving from one continent to another and when my consulting got hammered by the American invasion of Iraq (as I was living next door to Saddam at the time). It granted me a great deal of freedom, geographically - which was one of the main benefits of it. I also brought in business from my gambling connections, over the years, and have made some good friends from it who I still keep in touch with, some of whom are fairly high-powered and who I'd not likely have connected with otherwise.

I'm not looking to get into any pissing contest with anyone on here, but I would expect that anyone who doubts what I say has either mistakenly thought:-

- I'm seeking attention and make stuff up (because I know that sort of stuff happens in places like this - shock/horror, LOL)

- what I have done is unusual and difficult to do (it isn't at all if you work at it, just like anything else);

- they haven't read through this: http://www.okcupid.com/tests/the-profes ... itude-test (so they might think I'm a total bullshitter - when a cursory glace through this might tip them off that I do know a little about what I'm talking about, since I wrote the bloody thing)

My angle is only to help others who labour under the mistaken belief that they can win money at the casino (in particular) which, unless you're going to do something like this isn't recommended:-

on a one shot deal you can get lucky.. the odds are not that great against you, but repeat the above too many times and the casino will get all your money, because you are going against the odds, plain and simple.

just as I sometimes pop-up and post on the 'conspiracy' theories on here, and try to support a little common sense when I see things are getting a little out of hand, the same might be true for the gambling threads.

I reckon I lose more money betting on City (just for the heck of it) than I win, but then my bets in this area are for fun, they don't go to paying my mortgage as my backgammon, poker play and political betting once did.

as you'd expect, having someone call my integrity into question pisses me off, but over a poker table people pay with their money when they play sheriff, and for that I've no qualms whatsoever. You can take advantage of people's weaknesses and egos, and decent poker players will often do that, mercilessly. Ego is never your friend. To master anything you must first recognise you're not good at it, and in a psychological battle of wits like poker you're at a double disadvantage if you cannot stay centred.

I've nothing personal with Dog above, but for future reference he'd have done better to 'call me' with a PM than approach things like he did. His attempt at finding out more puts us both in a less than flattering light.

lastly, I'm not looking for attention, rather the opposite - but it's always amusing when people mistakenly peg me for someone who I'm not; and I've no time nor inclination to indulge anyone otherwise.

(and that's all folks!)
