TV Series

Thought episode 6 was immense personally.
Wow....fair play and each to their own......but for me,the series just comes across as unengaging and unappealing ....the characters are weak and they have little to any charisma,i find myself not caring about their development or even their existence,In comparison to the Jackson films, this reimagination of the universe is toy town.

The films many tolkien fans find terrible adaptations as they stripped away lots of the book.

The books and his others are slow paced, ponderous and methodical and are slow burning and charactor building, no wham bam straight into it. If you are making a proper LOTR series it will be one for the long haul and at time a bit meh at times, like the books.

LOTR is exactly what I hoped and expected it to be, and I am enjoying it very much.

I guess thats why its so marmite as a series,i have not read the books and just enjoy a feast for the eyes.....which this is not.

Think it depends what genre you like read everything by Toilken loved the films and can’t wait to start this series once it’s finished and I’ll be treating it like film one of five so expecting a slow character building story!

Sopranos tried watching it 2/3 times got through a full season and it just didn’t appeal to m! Sometimes you just got to realise that some shows you just dont warm to or like..

Sopranos was a show very much of its time.

I tried to watch it again with the Mrs,she having never seen it,not so long back, and it was a disappointment.

I love Fantasy/Sci Fi.....i just think this is very poor all round, the acting is rubbish and the action all a bit toy.More like a soap opera.

HOD is so much more intense, has better characters, and acting, and is all the better for it.

Is anyone watching This England, seen a couple of episodes and shows the government to be absolutely fucking useless with regards to covid and the daily figures they released were actually false.
Just watched EP3 and it loses track a bit with too much emphasis on individuals in Care homes.
Yes I get the need to press home the issues faced by those establishments at that time. Personally want to see more of the interactions between Ministers, scientists etc.
The casting of Bojo, Hancock and Sunak is excellent.

The imagination is Tolkein's and I believe the makers have kept to his 'world' fairly accurately. If you mean the actors are poor, the dialogue is wooden (have you read the silmarillion?) and the story line isn't quite hanging together then I wouldn't argue with you.

'... not die and cannot be destroyed; and ever and anon it sprouts anew, and will bear dark fruit even unto the latest days'.

people forget how Tolkein writes. Its hard going at times. Veering between high english and west country buffoonery.

personally I think comparing the 2 is where people are judging each piece of wrongly.

They are both high fantasy, but different worlds and stories, focusing on different story telling and themes.

It's like comparing doctor who to quantum leap, both involve time travel and sci-fi but are fuck all the same otherwise
