TV Series

On season 2 ep 3 of slow horses.
Oldman is now bossing this, what a great actor he is. He's developed that character from a few mumbled insulting lines into the central focus of the show.
A joy to watch him doing his thing in a well written and filmed drama.
Superb stuff.
Enjoyed S1
Will watch this new season.

Loving the Peripheral

Stuck in a small Appalachian town, a young woman's only escape from the daily grind is playing advanced video games. She is such a good player that a company sends her a new video game system to test...but it has a surprise in store. It unlocks all of her dreams of finding a purpose, romance, and glamour in what seems like a game...but it also puts her and her family in real danger.

It's superbly written, Oldman and Scott thomas perfectly cast as the old chess player thinking one step ahead, not giving one single fuck about protocol or ethics, or his Joe's, (or does he) verses the ambitious 2nd seat constantly thinking about her career.
It's the only series I've bought into for ages.
Loads of little teasers which may develop further. Rivers dad, for example, knows far more than he's letting on.

I think that it’s very “Le Carré“ which is the highest tribute I could possibly give to a spy drama. Beautifully paced, subtle and intriguing with a brutal truth always around the next corner.
I usually wait and then binge tv series but this one has me watching each release and waiting on the next episode.
I have a theory about Rivers dad but, with Le Carré in mind, I suspect that I’m probably being fed crumbs that coax me towards a wrong conclusion.

Enjoyed it but boy my head was scrambled trying to follow the plot
