Txiki Begiristain...

By the way, so I don't disgrace myself socially would anyone hazard an educated guess as to how to pronounce his name? Perhaps it's similar to the tziki in tzatziki, the Greek savoury dish?

Not convinced at all about Guardiola. He has managed at one club in one country, a club where he had spent most of his professional life, and was basically handed one of the greatest teams of all time to work with. And he still cracked under the pressure and quit. He wouldn't last 18 months at City

The pressure at Barcelona is incomparable to the pressure at City IMO. The pressure at Barca is off the fucking scale, especially because as you say they have such a great team. The expectations were huge and Pep lived up to every single one of them. City would be comparative cake walk just as Mancini laughed off pressure at City because he managed at Inter.

I do agree that it would be a risky decision - but ultimately we need a similar job to the Barca one in the sense that we need a coach who can get the absolute maximum out of squad of top class talent.

It does n't have to be him though, Benitez could work; his preferred formation is 4-2-3-1, same as ours, He has experience of the Premier league, 2 European trophies in 2 consecutive years and has won titles in Spain with a club other than Real or Barca. Guardiola could give us the pinnacle, a great footballing team who achieve glory, but how far are we away from that in terms player level; who will be our busquets, our Xavi, our Messi? Benitez may just the man to get us playing to get results in Europe, we don't have to entertain, but we need some grasp on how to compete with teams who don't have the resources we have.

Pronounce it like "cheeky"

This sounds great and maybe it will give us an edge when going into the transfer window...not missing out on our target like this summer and last ie Sanchez, Hazard, RVP to a degree...

i hope he'll do what marwood should have done this summer

Me too ... sell Balotelli, sack Mancini, bring in Klopp, Goetze, and Hummels. Game over.

if they sign guardiola i'll be the most happy bunny , i love guardiola in the bit.
Shit. Anyone got 'Arry's number?

did Txixi Begiristain have the same role at Barcelona that Marwood has at City now ? Is a 'Sporting Director' and a 'Football Administration Officer' the same thing ? Genuine question if anybody knows.

Assuming that they are, and these reports are true, it looks like Marwoods getting the bullet unless there are plans for a new role for him.

I disagree. The Barcelona team that won the Champions League at Wembley were top, top notch and it takes real talent throughout to earn that. Having some of these Barca professionals on board at City will be nothing but a good thing. They're football men.
