Txiki Begiristain

Outside the club, most neutrals view us as one of the most progressive and best run football clubs on earth.

Some of our fans, with little knowledge of the inner workings of the club, like to criticise one of the most respected names in world football.

Just look at what we have, where we have been and where it appears we are going. Surely, the senior team at the club have earned our trust.

Great post. Someone will be along shortly though to tell you that it's a forum and everyone is here to give their opinions and what's the point of having the forum if people can't give their opinions no matter how unqualified, asinine, or just simply wrong they may be! :)

It's a very fine line between creating the ideal environment in which players thrive and the best players want to join whilst moving on players who have served the club well. It is not a clinical process and it inevitable there will be some difference of opinion. In our fortunate position we can avoid this type of headline from the Fail today
Defender Tony Hibbert, who was released by Everton this summer after 25 years at the club, says they are "no longer the people's club" but instead "a ruthless, horrible business"
I believe it is all part of the vision and Txiki is doing it as best he can which is probably better than most could.

Thanks Billy. Of course, people are entitled to an opinion but at least base it on something. We can all see the progression of the stadium, the academy and the reported profit at the club so the opinion I have put forward is based on that. Unless one understands the specific financial arrangements within a player contract or the specifics of a transfer deal, there is little point in expressing opinion. It can look sometimes as if a deal is not offering good value, especially if it is based upon the media speculation of the financial aspects of the deal, but we just need to look at the overall movement of the club, from a business and sporting perspective, to know that we are in very capable hands.

Discovering your fate via the club website, if that is true, is no way to operate a successful business. Successful businesses often need to be ruthless but there is no place for poor communication and malevolence.

We are indeed one of the worlds best run clubs and in more than capable hands. Some of our fans though throw a double six every time they read about us in the papers, even though I'm sure they probably don't believe what the press write. And, as someone above has quite rightly mentioned, people just like to moan (sad really)

As Oldius said, we are an extremely well run club. From pretty much every aspect, the academy to the pre-match entertainment to the first team. However I do think Txiki's moves in the transfer market this window show how important it is to have the right man as manager. Would we have secured Sane and Jesus without Pep? Who knows. But if we missed out you can bet your house Txiki would take the flack! The reality is the best formula is a strong relationship between DoF and the manager and we undoubtedly have the best duo in football now!
