The thing that gets me with Mangala and Bony isn't that they didn't work out, it's that our desire to play technical passing football predated both of them, as did our desire to get Pep, and neither of them were suited to playing that way, yet both still cost us huge chunks of money in transfers and wages. Who identified these players as being good fits for the football we wanted to play? What was the purpose behind their purchases? I have a theory regarding Bony and Pellegrini selfishly wanting to go out on a high before he was punted but that doesn't stop Txiki, Ferran or Khaldoon telling him to get on with what he's got. Mangala is just a straight up mystery, especially as we also had to then pay for Fernando because we didn't want to piss off Porto.
