Txiki & Pep met in Amsterdam yesterday

Even ahead of this news, only the most naive of people would think that Pep wouldn't already be doing some "unofficial" work for the club ahead of his summer move here. Bayern may or may not be annoyed about it but they'd be daft to think he's not already making plans for his time as City manager. At the same time, I'm sure Pep is still doing the Bayern job to the best of his ability and he's professional enough not to let these things impact on each other. It always made me laugh when Moyes made an excuse for United's poor season under him, saying "don't forget but I only started working for the club on July 1st". Yeah, course you fucking did Gollum - so what the fuck were you doing in the 7 or 8 intervening weeks between you being announced as the Rags' next manager and you officially starting work there? I somehow doubt he was sat on his arse all that time doing fuck all!
There is no evidence of him working at any time there

It seems more plausible that we can't operate without restriction in terms of incomings, until we have that clear direction of who Pep considers surplus?

If we think of it like that, we really do need to get a hurry up.

Especially so, if we know some players will be happy to sit tight when it comes to leaving, wanting pay-offs, try to impact their own valuation.

No doubt, we would want something like that on lock, to avoid damaging results in our remaining fixtures.

If Pep takes the recent defeats to Leicester and Liverpool as his barometer (I think he's been a voyeur since last summer) then only Sergio is safe.

Probably fair comment that only Sergio is safe; although I still think Joe Hart is pretty safe, despite recent links to Neuer, and certainly shouldn't be a priority for replacement. However, there is a limit to how many changes can be made so, realistically, several players are pretty safe but none to them should be allowed to get off Scott free if they fail to perform in the remainder of the season.

if that was the first game he would seen city then none of them would be safe

Anything that angers Bayern is fine by me, but it seems odd that they wouldn't just speak by phone.

Or Skype but Txiki has form for this. It also feeds into my impression that we have given up on the season as far as the league is concerned. Pellers has a pot in the bag so that's checked off the list and the club is focused on next season and preparing for Pep. The CL will still be a priority for Pellers and the squad and getting to the QF and/or beyond will be a motivation but the league will be something to just get through as we count the down the days.

I have some sympathy for Pellers and the position he is in with Txiki on romantic jaunts with the new squeeze and the ex left to pack up the boxes while the kids stand around in awkward silence. Thing is I'm not fussed about the league this season either. Just grab a CL spot and let's end this phony war and get to the real one next season.

I agree and you make some good points.
Do you think their would be any "get out clause" if the worst happens and we don't get CL?

There isn't a get out clause because no contract can or has been signed prior to this summer.

It's always been a verbal agreement, based on trust.

He wouldn't need to travel to Amsterdam to inform us he had changed his mind!

Rest easy.

i thought he could sign a contract in January as he was into the last 6 months of his contract. No idea if he has or hasn't, but if he could I would have thought he has.

I'm sure Bayern fans aren't too happy about him taking time to focus on us.

You know we're going to have to play against him this season, dontcha?
