No party reflects public opinion as public opinion is so disparate. The main parties make a point of trying to create a consensus of opinion and even in that there will be dissenting voices.
UKIP are a narrow party created around a single issue. It has been easier for them to sound like a single voice as the adherents to there cause are of like mind. But if there popularity grows they will find voices that dissent on other parts of there in my opinion rather feeble ideals.
All three of the major political parties are broad churches. I am a Labour party member but i am as far removed from a lot of labour ideals as some of the far right nutjobs we have on here.
UKIP are a niche party, they will damage the torys just as the SDP damaged Labour in the 80's. I should be encouraging the nutjobs on here to vote UKIP as it will help Labour win, but i find them abhorrent, they are tea partyesque loons, fruitcakes and racists
