It's not. That's the trade deal they have negotiated with the EU. The UK is significantly larger than those countries and is a huge customer of EU exports. Would the EU really shoot themselves in the foot by refusing to deal with the UK unless we agree to a poor immigration deal?

That is a big gamble to take in my opinion. Im not pro EU btw, but i would be against leaving just for the sake of immigration.

Strange argument that fella

My argument against the EU is that there is an inherent democratic deficit and until that is resolved no restructuring of the EU would be satisfactory. Its a perfectly agreeable stance to take.

If the Democratic problems of the EU were solved then minor issues such as immigration would be easier to find common agreement on.

To leave solely on the basis of immigration would in my opinion be barmy. I would like to see a more federal, more democratic, more open Europe. If that does not happen then the EU as it currently stands is i believe becoming more and more untenable.

We might as well wait for Xmas in June because that is never going to happen, and waiting for it to happen isn't an option. Get out of Europe and let's have a points based system and stop this nonsense.
A poster mentioned that about 10% of our new laws have the smell of the EU on them, well that's 10% too much and that's another reason why we need to come out.
Who voted for a federal Europe with a European military anyway?

In a slightly watered down version , I suppose it was those who signed the Maastricht treaty, in our case ,John Major our conservative prime minister at the time.

I would vote for a properly federal Europe with a European military if handled right :)

But I'm one of those really hardcore internationalists who wants a One World Government so anything that leans in that direction I tend to focus on.

But there would at least be a referendum on that if you had the chance.
So that would be democratic.

Only 1 out of 10 laws has it's basis from the E.U. and you're freaking out about that? A lot of those laws have been equality laws, employment laws so businesses can't take the piss etc. Maternity leave is another law with it's origin from the E.U.

Where have I mentioned I was freaking out?
Yes 10% of laws coming in by unelected bureaucrats is way too much.
Just because you don't mind doesn't mean the rest of us think it's fine and dandy.
And don't start me on the stopping businesses taking the piss with all the £2.70 apprenticeships and zero hours contracts flying about.

Many of laws made in this country are by common law and are made by judges. Yep that's right unelected judges.

The E.U. is largely against zero hour contracts. The Tory's who were in power at the time were against maternity leave for mothers. The E.U. isn't the big bad wolf many think it is.

That's your opinion and i don't agree with you.
Many people don't.
