UKIP

Surprising statistic I just read on the factcheck website of the bbc.

"Worth saying Norway and Switzerland, both non-EU members, have more EU migrants per 1000 of its population than the UK "

They're very welcome to them, if they want them. I think migrants are very beneficial for smaller countries if they have the infrastructure.

They have no choice. Freedom of movement is one of the prices they pay to trade with the EU. Thats why leaving the EU to stop Immigration is just a nonsense

It's not. That's the trade deal they have negotiated with the EU. The UK is significantly larger than those countries and is a huge customer of EU exports. Would the EU really shoot themselves in the foot by refusing to deal with the UK unless we agree to a poor immigration deal?

That is a big gamble to take in my opinion. Im not pro EU btw, but i would be against leaving just for the sake of immigration.

We are a huge customer of EU exports because we need to import goods that we no longer produce in this country.
Why would we shoot ourselves in the foot by withdrawing from the EU and hoping to negotiate a deal outside it , when we don't have to , based on spurious claims about immigration?
We can stay either stay in the EU and have a say in setting the rules ,or we can leave it and have to abide by those rules, without having any influence on them whatsoever.

On the basis that UKIP's policies are specifically designed to appeal to disaffected right wing Tories and xenophobes I don't understand the reports that apparently significant numbers of traditional Labour voters are prepared to abandon their socialist principles and vote for this shower.

It's working-class people who experience the downsides of immigration.

Actually this isn't true even a bit. Labour has lost almost nothing to UKIP, and will be winning numerous seats off of the Tories because they've split the vote.
