Just watched the game again and wanted to share some analysis with you.

When Fernandinho fouls Fernandez (around 20 min) you see him turn around see that it is Fernandinho and beg for a card.

Fernandez knows if Fernandinho gets booked there he can play off him all game knowing he cannot touch him again, letting him run the game.

When no booking arrives Fernandez goes missing big time

I have been saying for ages (and I may be proven wrong big time at some point) that Bruno goes missing against any decent teams.
Check his stats, he scores penalties against the good teams but take them out he does nothing
He just takes all set pieces and punts long balls and crosses all game.
He is miles off KDB level of playmaker
He also like you say is cunning/ cheating ****, he tries to ref the game

I've also been saying all of this for ages. His general play is shocking, he loses the ball constantly, and not just because he's playing risky passes, but also in the centre of the pitch with mundane passes. His technique is very scrappy, inconsistent first touch and passing, he never really looks effortless like a David Silva. He's had more hype in the media in one year than a far superior player like David got in 10, which is just disgusting.

He gets away with it too in the media, Barnes's goal for Leicester against them, he was the source, trying to nutmeg someone in his own third under pressure and giving the ball away cheaply. If that was Pogba you'd never hear the end of it. I've seen him do this numerous times too, lose the ball leading to a break for the opposition, it just isn't punished that often.

Once a narrative is set it is very hard to change, and the current narrative is that Fernandes is the messiah. He is a decent player but nothing special and all hype. There's a reason the elite teams didn't want him. Pogba is the most overrated player I have ever seen but his top level is way above Fernandes's, he just only shows it very rarely.

Yeah I made the same point about Pogba in another thread a few times. He's definitely rated mostly for his fame and PR. It's like Beckham and Ronaldo. Now, obviously Ronaldo is an excellent player and far better than the other two, but the fame has long outgrown the talent and the fame and sycophantic celebrity worshipping fans is why he gets rated by some as better than Messi and other players from history who were better than him. He's overrated just on a higher level.

Players like Ronaldo, Beckham and Pogba always get overrated on account of their fame and PR. It's the shite world we live in. It makes me wonder if the same happened with Best in the 60s.

My rag mates were surprised when I said I was glad to see them go on a bit of a run recently, until I told them it'll take the pressure off OGS for a while and stop them getting a decent manager in.

Like you say, they've had a few things go their way recently (well, mainly penalties) but that's just papered over the cracks. They didn't lay a glove on us.

It made me laugh before the game hearing Neville say he thought Pogba "might be able to get in the game" as if he was some kid from the academy and not the most expensive player in the world.

Fernandes isn't half the player people are claiming he is and if the penalties ever dry up, the drop off will be huge.
