United (A) Post Match Thread

Personally I've been so surprised by the reaction to last night. We played a controlled game and ensured United couldn't counter us.

The reality is we now only play Chelsea who are a genuine title contender between now and February. The rest of the games are all winnable and if we do so we'll probably be top of the league.

Neville was the one who pissed me off the most. He used his platform to say that City should essentially pile forward and play into the trap of a team that solely want to counter attack. It was shite having to listen to him and Tyler.

Exactly correct mate. Neville spent the entirety of the game leaving the paucity of the game at our own doorstep.

He's a ****, with zero awareness of any responsibility United had as the home team, having been knocked out of Europe in midweek and it also being the derby.

Oh, and having a team yesterday which comprised...

De Gea £19m
Wan Bissaka £50m
Lindelof £31m
Maguire £85m
Shaw £34m
Pogba £89m
Fernandes £65m
Fred £54m
McTominay academy
Rashford academy
Greenwood academy

So even with eight players that cost £427m, it didn't warrant a mention...

Yep Neville is **** he is in a privilege position and setting the narrative like he did with Fernandinho few seasons ago.
He made it all about city not the scum who never changed tactics never over committed but is was us that were the bore side.

slightly? Give over... we had by far the best weekend out of any side that could remotely be considered challengers (bar Leicester who haven’t played yet).

I was banging on and on and.. on yesterday how we got it right and that a point away and a clean sheet against the big sides will be the actions of the team crowned champions come the end of the campaign. The points tally is going to be mega, mega low.

put it this way.. I think any team within 6 points come January.. and can then put together a decent run of wins into Spring and you will probably win it.

The results this weekend since we played have proved me right about our result yesterday.
Bang on the money..

The team and management need to
- Win our game in hand and we’re 4th
- Keep accumulating the points until the end of January
- Progress in the cups

Us as supporters need to
- Stay calm
- Above all else, get behind Pep and the squad

I know people get frustrated if we don’t win. It’s natural to have a pop at City when things don’t go our way. But yesterday we controlled a difficult away game at one of the teams that will be there or thereabouts for a Top Four spot at the end of the season, a team under pressure after a horrendous week facing (guess what?) a chance to redeem that week at home to their fiercest local rivals.

And now today we see Spurs and The Formation Brick Throwers drop points against teams that they (most likely) should beat nine times out of ten.

Said it elsewhere on here previously.. get everyone back fully fit and match fit and scoring goals to add to the defensive solidity we’re developing, then watch this squad fly in the New Year.

And if we could bring in some additional attacking options in January (from, say, Barcelona or Dortmund perhaps?!) then maybe, just maybe..

He's a revisionist of the highest order.

I still take great delight when he said our team was done after Pep's first season in charge.

Let's get it right, people are sheep and are easily persuaded to think a bang average full-back knows more than they do.

Society today doesn't have enough people who back themselves and their own opinion.

I don't need anybody telling me what is right in front of my face, I've watched the same game for 40 years.

A wolf should never concern itself with the opinions of sheep.

Reading the threads re - the derby. Mrs big gaz has gone to her daughters so I couldn't get the game ( she sorts that shit out for me when its not on BT )
So the match day thread and good old GMR lol. For the first time ever I couldn't work out if good old Fred Eyre was more pissed off at city missing chances or the rags ( sat on rampant rabbits ) he was working with. He was more pissed off than usual.

Well said. I really think Neville made a fool of himself yesterday. He kept going on about City being sluggish. I think we deliberately slowed the game down in midfield and held back to try and draw United out from behind their parked bus. And it worked on three or four occasions but we missed easy chances. It wasn't pretty to watch but it was the right tactic to stop us being mugged again.
I think Pep is playing the long game this season. Conserving energy is critical. We won't know till May if he was right to do so.

Come on City keep positive, Pep sees the bigger picture, we will be there or there about at the end of the season, we have a good squad better than the rest, it will all pay off the longer the season goes on. Pep has changed the way we play, we are no longer open to a counter attack, once we get the goals flowing we will be ok, stick together.
