United Away Sold Out

sounds too complicated. i say award the points after the game, and have it based on price, distance from manchester, and the result.

e.g. when we got hammered by tottenham last season it was freezing, midweek before xmas, tickets were a fortune and there was only a couple of hundred there, we only got 20 points for it iirc, however under another system we would get 50 points. so,

10 points for any away game
+10 if we get beat
+10 if it's over 50 miles from manchester
+20 if it's abroad

so an away win at wigan would only get you 10 points, whereas if you made the effort to go watch city get stuffed in santander you would get 50.

In theory.

Felix. It can all be done via the data base. All the details are alreay held on the system. Wouldn't be anymore trouble for City. Just some new software and that's it.

I register my address as living in LA and watch the points roll it.

It really wouldn't work.

I like Felix's system though... although i'm happy with the existing system. You can't do anything about the people who buy tickets to sell on to keep their points up but the ticket allocation to OSC's should become an obsolete practice now.

Why though ? Because of some perceived supporters club abuse, which anyone with the points can do if they so choose.

Might as well do away with our supporters club as well then, do you really think the supporters clubs take 1000's of tickets ?

i know some who got 3 this week from supporter club :o( ....Hmm well gutted...i know they only have very little points! :p

I've got sweet FA chance of making the cut on tickets ever. '83-'99 almost all home games and loads of away games (and there was some shit ones in there).
'99-'11 average 3 games per season or so. So Sweet FA in terms of points.

even so the current system is as fair as it's going to get.
The only problem seems to be in the points range where the tickets run out e.g. 5500-5250.

To tweak it:
If the OSCs have to submit in advance then the club could have their details on file with each individuals points recorded. So look at No tickets left, and if someone in the queue has more points than the last OSC member they get the ticket, if not the OSC member gets it. Put up a sign where the points required to beat the last OSC member are shown that can be updated in real time so you don't queue unnecessarily. Not perfect either but at least you know the blue who got the last ticket has more points than you.

Sweet with 50 points for Aris. That plus Fulham after is as many points as I usually pick up in a full season. Plus lashings of Ginger beer over the weekend. Like the idea of more points the longer you travel: 1800 mile round trip = shit loads.

LCBlue, it took me about 5/6 seasons of going to 10+ aways, all the cup homes, friendlies etc to get a United away ticket

And that was back when you only needed 2800ish points.

So yeah, gonna be difficult for you, but not impossible.

BTW, isn't most away games 20 points instead of 10?

Cheers. I think this is where the loyalty points system falls on it's face a little. I've never claimed to be a bigger City fan than anyone else or to have a right to be able to go to any game but for younger fans like myself and many others it's going to become increasingly difficult to get a ticket when fans have 3,000/4,000 more points than you, rightly or wrongly.

:(

Yeah feel sorry for younger blues like you, got a mountain to climb.

I was fortunate, as were lots of others, to be going when it all started up more or less... although I've fallen down the pecking order the last few seasons, financial reasons, mates not being able to afford it anymore, moving away etc... trying to get back into it all nowdays though :)

but really, its only United away that gets issues like this. Do the games and your reward will come eventually.

(I'd rather do Notts County than United anyway... and I'm going to that one lol)

Problem with that system though is that if you were offered 100 points to go to, say Aris, which is what, 20 euro ticket? Whats to stop people just buying a ticket with no intention of going to Thessaloniki? But pocketing the points

no, that would get too complicated. however if we played santander again next season and got stuffed again, you would get 50 points.
